She is annoying on her own with her babbling but thankfully they have taken her out of main seat with Nick Faldo. The two of them together are just plain horrible. Cutesy Cutesy giggle giggle. Like a couple of 5 year old girls.



Amazed after all these years she still is employed there. She must have something on somebody in ownership. Many better announcers and hosts have been let go but she babbles on.

I find it hard to believe the majority of comments claim she is so good at her job. She almost got fired for making an ethnic slur not too long ago and Jim Gray gets canned for doing a mid tournament interview, maybe she DOES have the great job security people claim. I will give her the voice. It's a mix of great commentator and naughty phone voice. Although I have no personal problem with her, I can easily do without 90% of the golf channel staff. I could even have the "boom goes the dynamite" kid doing the commentating so long as he kept it short and succinct "And Phil blocks another 50 yards into the woods." Even though I know as golf fans we are lucky to have a whole channel devoted to our passion, the whole channel is frustrating because the majority of what is on it is garbage. I don't think it's necessarily their fault, they can't spend a whole lot.

I believe she was a college player at Duke, and then spent quite a few years playing pro in Europe, Asia and Australia, as well as being a teaching pro.

She can get annoying at times; just doesn't really say anything of substance. I'm a fan of Miller, but it can't be perfect I guess, I'm there to see the golf. Interesting, on a Nationwide event not that long ago they had "announcerless golf". They just sat in couches and had the players wired up, it was great!

I'm sure after the "Tiger comment" there was some serous talk at the Golf Channel on if they could keep her employed but even with that said Tilghman has some serous job security. Not many on air media types working these days with a 15 year contract like Tilghman.

Kelly grew up on a golf course her parents owned.

Do you REALLY think her comment had ANY racist meaning behind it when she said it? REALLY? Considering how good of friends she and Tiger are, I seriously doubt it, but the race baiters will never let that one go.

Calling her comment an "ethnic slur" is over the top. Unless you have another agenda, or have succumbed to the over sensitization so prevalent in our society, in which so many are looking for things to be offended by.

Ridiculous that it was considered an ethnic slur. Even Tiger said it's ok...he took it as a joke. The person
that says the supposed slur is what determines if it is racist or not. If the guy is a known racist then yes it's bad,
but if he is not, then you have to understand the context of how he said it...most likely it was in a joking way.
We are too sensitive nowadays.

Now what I considered much worse was when GD or Golf Mag actually published the neck rope on the cover
of their mag. Now THAT was a true brain fart by the geniuses working there. I believe one of the execs got fired for that.

I'm a fan as well. I don't really understand all the hate on here. I also don't think the golf channel has any better options etiher. Would you rather have Charlie Rymer? That would be awful, and could cause me to boycott the golf channel completely. He's already on there way to much.

And her "comment" about was not an ethnic slur. A poor choice of words? Yes. but not an ethnic slur.

She does a great job, and adds something to the broadcast the champions tour team doesn't bring.

I don't mind Kelly at all. Charlie Rymer is [i]unbearable[/i]. I honestly don't understand why the golf channel hasn't reigned him in.

He exaggerates everything he says and is so over-zealous - especially on the Martin Hall lessons shows. My wife makes me turn the channel because of Rymer. He says things that are so chock full of hyperbole it leaves you shaking your head. An actual Rymer quote:

I read these threads that pop up every now and then about KT and generally just sigh and roll my eyes. She doesn't really need me to come to her defense; however, today I felt compelled to defend her anyway. I was in college with Kelly. Played a few rounds with her and one of her teammates. (They kicked my a$$. Wasn't even close. My index now is 2.9, probably closer to 8 at the time.) I don't claim to have been a close friend, but I talked to her pretty regularly when I bumped into her on campus or at the range and we had a lot of mutual friends. There is obviously a wide range of opinions about her work as a host/commentator on TGC, but I am confident that you would have a VERY hard time finding anybody who knows her personally who has anything negative to say about her. She's smart and genuine with a good sense of humor -- I suspect that her job security is in part attributable to the fact that she is well-liked and respected by the cast and crew at TGC. I like her work on-air, too, but I'm obviously biased.

At first I was fine giving her the benefit of the doubt. She seemed personable and well prepared. But her style is shifting towards gushing, gameshow host (how's that for a little illiteration?).

As to her job security, I'm willing to bet the GC does not pay well. Lot's of mediocre talent across the board there and the top notch people who could bump her probably could find better gigs elsewhere.

Im african american and I did not consider what she said a racial slur per say. Yes..an extremely poor choice of words, but it would have been a poor choice of words no matter what ethnicity the person was it was directed it towards. I am of the belief in these instances that intent is something that needs to be considered when someone says something that may be considered racist. Publicly labeling someone a racist is pretty serious...especially if they truly are not. Im sure we are all aware that there are some things that you just cant be saying as it pertains to race. However, in this specific case with Kelly, when we consider intent I feel there was no real harm done. Surely and apology was warranted. Suspension..Personally I would have considered it ok either way but I realize GC needed to show some type of public reprimand. I like Kelly.
