Too much emphasis is placed on having a coach. I think they screw as many people up as they help.

Yeah, I wonder who Bubba Watson's coach is?

I mean if you're talking about the level that these guys are already at then I might tend to agree with you. These guys are not really (or very rarely) overhauling these guys swings. Its always helpful to have a second set of eyes when trying to get into certain positions. But if you're talking about amateur players then I'd have to strongly disagree.

Agreed! I think the best thing for a player is an educated observer. Someone that doesnt want to perfect what you do, but someone that will let you know when you are straying off course.

I can't wait until this stack and tilt thing goes away. this is another good step.
Hopefuly soon Woods wil ditch Foley and this will all go away.
Do you think just because a few tour pro's aren't winning tournaments with the stack & tilt methodology, it is just going to go away?

Stack & Tilt will always be an attractive option to the weekend golfer who wants to play better, but doesn't have 40 hours a week to put into practicing.

Personally, I would LOVE to have O'hair, Baddeley, and Weirs S&T swings on their WORST days, as I assume most AMATEURS on here would.

First of all, you can't fire a guy you are not paying. Fire the caddy yes, the coach you don't pay for free time and advice, no. O'Hair needs to chill and get that belly putter going. I have seen him play live....dude rips for sure.

edit: spelling..that's how I roll.

We would only be guessing as to what is going on with Sean O’Hair right now. He is trying to “find it” as is Tiger and if we are honest, most of us. This is an interesting look back at one year ago. I missed this the first time around. Maybe he needs another pep talk from Freddie. Confidence is king to play at a high level.

from p. 3

As far as he has come, O'Hair has made some mistakes in the heat. Trailing Mickelson by two strokes on the tee of the island-green 17th at TPC Sawgrass in 2007, O'Hair hit a too-aggressive 9-iron over the pin and into the water, making a killing quadruple-bogey 7. When Woods beat him on the final day at Bay Hill, it was from five strokes behind as O'Hair shot a final-round 73. Going into this year, his best finish in a major was a T-10 at the 2009 Masters. The sum of such incidents breeds suspicion that O'Hair still has baggage holding him back.

Michael Jordan seemed to think so in his role as assistant captain at the Presidents Cup. "My biggest focus is Sean O'Hair," Jordan said. "I feel like I can contribute from the mental aspect to help him battle some of the weaknesses that he might have."

The captain of the team, Fred Couples, had started working on O'Hair weeks before. Miffed by O'Hair's modest reactions to texts, Couples confronted him on the range during the FedEx Cup.

"I had heard Sean complaining about his putting, and I've been out here 30 years, and nobody wants to hear it," Couples says. "So I told him he's got to get over that 'I can't putt' stuff. And I also get the feeling that he's more comfortable being behind someone rather than being out front. So pretty soon I'm tapping him in the chest. I told him I wanted him to walk around like he owned the place: No low shoulders. Puff up your chest. He shot 64 that day, and he texted me, 'Dude, I owned that course.' That's what I'd like to see out of Sean, because he can be truly great."

O'Hair took it all in but still doesn't feel he needs a makeover. "I wish I was a little cockier, but I'm just not very comfortable acting that way," he says. "I think most of the guys who act that way are trying to convince themselves. Then again, confident people can almost talk themselves into good play, and I could get better there.”

Looks like Sean Foley will need to redo his video. How long was Baddeley on the Stack and Tilt Ad. After he left?

Got that feeling from watching him in person when Tiger clipped him at Bay Hill. Nothing about his body language that says killer instinct or ice water is in the veins. There is a fine line when you are training a child to deal with pressure...if you overdo it and don't let them taste victory...you'll ruin them. I think this guy's old man took his heart a long time ago. Darn shame, has the skill to be a champion.

Yeah, I wonder who Bubba Watson's coach is?

They talked about Bubba's coach on Sunday. Turns out it was his Dad who shot on average 100+. Those were the only lessons he's ever had.

Butch never had a "contract" with TW but did get paid by him. I doubt that most teachers have contracts but believe they are re-numerated beyond the recognition. There are much more qualified people on here to answer that question and hopefully they can chime in.

The few teachers i know with tour pros on their client list certainly get paid...smallish %, but can add up if a guy posts a few top 10s or a W.

I dont understand everyones beef against sean foley. I was luck enough to meet him while at farmers insurance watching Hunter Mahan and not only is he a top bloke but he has some fantastic theories as well. Im not an advocate of stack and tilt but i think foleys stuff is fantastic and his stuff is very "scientific" and its not stack and tilt. If you look at physics and the science of the golf swing what foley teaches is spot on. Also he said that tiger was only 40% there and that was back in feb. so that was 3 months ago. I think that everyone needs to give Tiger and Foley a break. I dont feel that Tiger not dominating is Foley's fault. Just my opinion take it or leave it.
