My First Bag is Complete and I did it for under $950

Just assembled by first bag 'o stix. I'm a beginner (6 months in ) but I have been improving rapidly and I couldn't borrow clubs any longer. I think I pulled together a nice set that should last me through my beginner stages and into the intermediate stages. Here it is:

 

Driver: Wilson Staff Dxi - $109.99 at Hurricane Golf (Yes, that cheap)

3W: Wilson Staff Fybrid 3w - $59.99 at Hurricane Golf

Fairway Utility: Wilson Staff Fybrid FY - $79.99 at TGW

Hybrid: Wilson Staff Fybrid 3H - $59.99 at Hurricane Golf

Irons: Taylormade Burner 1.0 4-PW - $399 at Golfsmith (people knock these, but they are the right length for me out of the box +0.5")

Sand Wedge: Wilson tw9 56* - $53 at TGW

Putter: Cleveland Classic #6 - $79.99 at Golfsmith

Bag: Taylormade Featherweight - $79.99 at Sports Authority

 

Its somewhat of a mis-mosh but the total came out to $923.88 and the Irons were actually a birthday present from the fam!

 

Overall, I've learned there are some really great deals on the net, especially on past year models. Clearly as a beginner I dont have the need for the latest and greatest, just the greatest from a year or so ago...haha

Sounds like a great set. The Wilson line is affordable and underrated from many folks on here. I bought a Fybrid a couple years back and love the club. I've been eyeing some Wilson irons recently and if I could find a Dxi driver that wasn't priced $399 I might take a gander. Have a great season!

Nice job but you need a Gap wedge. PW is 45 degrees, and SW is 56 - that's too big a gap.

You're definitely right in that deals are had with the past years models. Ohio winters suck, but it's always the best time to stock up on deals found online and in stores.

Worst part is having to wait all winter to try them out.
