Ping iWedge

The Ping iWedge is the perfect combination of advanced enginerring, classic lines, and tour performance. The versatility and performance of the original PING EYE2 sand wedge inspired the design of the iWedge. Borrowing the proven engineering advancements of the tour favorite-including the concave sole-the iWedge's Sand Cup design positions the pivot point further from the lead edge and features an aggressively tapered heel and toe.

This combination gets the wedge under the ball quickly in the sand or from turf and prevents digging. The deep, multi-level cavity maximizes forgiveness and positions the center of gravity (CG) toward the center of the face and low for a solid feel.

The Ping iWedge Features: Ping iWedge sand cup bottom

Sand Cup Sole Design - The pivot point is positioned further from the lead edge to help get under the ball quickly (and prevent digging) for higher, softer landing shots from the sand and turf.

Feel & Forgiveness - The deep, multi-level cavity positions the center of gravity (CG) near the center of the face and low for a solid feel and expands the perimeter weighting for forgiveness.

Classic Shape - The shape and forgiveness of the iWedges provides the confidence and control to play delicate approach shots or blast shots from bunkers.

Control & Versatility - The groove profile imparts optimal spin for control from all conditions. The clubface can be opened or closed with confidence to play any shot.

This wedge is an excellent combo of tour looks and forgiveness. By tour looks I mean, the face of the club looks like conventional Vokey or 588 and by forgiveness, I mean miss hits are few and far between, and if you miss hit, don't expect too bad of a shot. They feel like butter when hit. I will comment more on these, as I haven't taken them out to the range yet.

I won a 56* in a tournament and used it for the first time this weekend. I have never liked Ping Wedges at all, but this one definately takes the cake. The Sole Grind and Cavity make the wedge very playable and the feel is pretty good. The only thing i thought it lacked was spin. It will definately not replace my RAC TP, but is definately something you should look at if you are in the market for some new wedges.

This is a very good wedge. Very forgiving and solid. Was very surprised. I almost ordered this one before I added my last DSG wedge. A very good wedge!

Got in a full round with my new iWedges this weekend.

I have a 54* and 58* iWedges. The 58* has a "B" Grind. CS-Lite Still shafts in both.

First the 54*. This is my Sand Wedge. It is fabulous from the sand. I had 3 shots from greenside bunkers. The farthest shot I hit from the pin was about 10'. This club is TOO easy to hit from the sand.

Now the 58*. This is my Lob Wedge. The "B" Grind makes this thing magic around the greens. Used it for 2 up and downs and one flop shot, all this no problems. The grooves are great, ball hits once and checks right up.

If you are in the market for new wedges, I would take a very close look at these.

I give them a 5 out of 5.

I own the 50* i wedge and love it. So easy to hit. Very soft off the face, sits really square at address. Bought it right off the rack, flattened it 1* and it's in the bag for good. I highly recommend this wedge for those who need that gap filled between your pitching wedge and lob wedge. $99 brand new isn't bad either. Looking at the 58* now.

These wedges are like cheating. seriously.

When deciding about getting these did some deep thinking about wedges and came to the conclusion that with how precise you need to be with your wedges, from dispersion to trajectory to bounce/loft/lie everything why would you not get the easiest to hit best fitting wedges possible?

Was a bit skeptic before I hit them due to them being a bit bulky and the bounce being a bit big to what I am used to.

Wedge companies for the past few years have duped us into thinking that the tiny forged blade wedge is the way to go, when about 1% of the golfing public can hit them consistently including me! Before getting these I got in the new BStone prototype wedges and played with them for a month when I decided these things are nice wedges but impossible to hit. Mind you im a scatch player. To get the result i wanted from these I had to be perfect each time with every type of shot and if I did not make perfect contact I was dead. Time to try the iwedges.

I decided to get some iwedges fit for me 54* & 58* extra heavy D6 and they are the BEST wedges I have ever used. Not only do they FEEL better than any forged wedge you can actually miss them a bit and get away with it. I think these wedges get a bad rap b/c they do not appeal to the "tour" type player but once you get past all of that and give them a shot you will not be dissapointed.

Finally got a few rounds in with my 50* & 56* iwedges. My previous wedges were the Mizuno MP series. It took me a couple rounds to get used to these wedges and discover the wider range of shots I could do. I can honestly say that I hit some shots around the green that I would never have tried with my old MPs. The sole of these are so versatile compared to my unground MPs. At my skill level (25 hdcp), these just give me more confidence. On full shots, I swear I'm hitting the ball closer to the hole than I was with the Mizunos. These Pings do not feel as soft as the Mizunos but nothing I can't live with, expecially after seeing the resulting shot. Out of the sand the 56 is much nicer than my old sand wedge. Before the Mizuno, I used a Ping Eye2 SW and I would say they've done a good job of recapturing the feel of that club. I can't comment on spin, because I don't put a lot of spin on the ball anyway.

Great wedges for my game!

I am very pleased with mine: 50º, 54º, and 58º. If you go to the Ping website and click on the links for what their tour players carry you will see quite a few carry the iWedges. I was surprised because I thought the clubs were designed for the average golfer (I learned this after I purchased the wedges).

I can hit them from a variety of lies, and are very forgiving. At $99 you can't beat the price.

I loved the look of this wedge, it just felt so MUCH heavier than my ISI wedges that I couldn't make the switch. I just wasn't willing to endure a poor short game while getting used to these wedges......if you like the heavier swingweight, most definitely, go with these wedges!

Bought the 56* iWedge to go with my new G10 irons. Went a couple degrees flatter on the wedge lie angle compared to the irons per Ping guidance on their web site.

In a long practice session hit 80-90% nicely out of the trap with a high trajectory, soft landing. May be a premature judgment but looks like a winner. Thinking about the 60* iWedge -- my course has some deeeep bunkers.

One downside is the stock Ping rubber grip. Seems to get slippery more easily from perspiration than other grips.

Switched to 54-58* after my last post. That was a good move. I've played these several rounds and would add to my previous review:

Easy sand escapes. higher trajectory shots from bunkers; but not much spin, so bunker shots tend to roll more than I'm used to. Yesterday hit an awesome sand shot, one I know would normally check up, and it ran way past the pin. Disappointing.

Hmm. I picked one up 2 years ago on ebay for cheap, and kind of forgot about it. the shaft was broken. Guess i need to find a shaft for it...

currently i have a ping tour wedge 56* with a glass shaft, and love the feel of it. I was thinking of switching it for a 54 as that fits my spacing better. can I put a fiberglass shaft in this i54 sw, or should i just use steel, like what was originally in it?
