I played there once, in 2007.

The Augusta National holes alone were worth the price of admisssion. I would go back, given the chance. The only holes I really recognized were the Amen Corner holes and the island green TPC Sawgrass hole. I have 2 balls in the lake and increased respect for the pros. My par on the replica of Augusta #12 is something I think about every year during the masters.

The links style British Open holes with the deep pot bunkers were also fun to play.

Again, I only played there once, but it was a very memorable round. Enjoy.

The place is a joke. The Augusta holes are nothing like the real thing. They are dead flat for the most part and you can cut the corner on "13" because there are no trees. I've played it a couple times and won't do it again. I'd go somewhere else like Lake Presidential or something if I were you. Conditions can be spotty as well (can you really have augusta/oakmont conditions on a few holes then British links on the next?

I played the Friday before our visit from Irene. Course was overall a good track. The holes are a good test and it is interesting to read the history on the hole markers on the tee boxes. The course was in fairly good condition when I played on Friday with three exceptions. 1) the greens had just been aerated earlier last week. The real issue that I had with the course was that the didnt' mention that until we had already payed and were about to tee off. I was not happy about paying close to $80 to play a course that had just been aerated. 2) #17 had a temporary green which was a surprise when we got to that hole. There was no mention of it at any time before teeing off. Again for the price I expected more information like this. Finally, the PACE OF PLAY IS SLOOOOWWWW. It took us 5.5 hours to play. IF I were to play again, I would make sure that I could play in the morning--early.

Overall, I would give it a 3.75 out of 5.

Wow.. One of my pet peeves is when a course fails to mention things like that when I make the tee time or wait until after you pay to tell you. I am surprised they did that to you. I have played there several times a year for a few yrs. now and never got that vibe from them that they would be that way. My check in there has always been pleasant and they never have a problem accepting all the deals they have out there.Sometimes we have more then one deal and they always go through them with us and tell us which deal works out to be the best for us. I have never paid more then $35 w/cart during the week in the AM.
I do agree the course has become way to slow. The first time we played there some yrs. back the ranger kept us moving along. Being our first time there we were taking pictures and were a bit slow but still keeping pace with the group ahead and walking off the green when the group behind was just teeing off. He was nice about keeping us moving and I always like a ranger doing his job. Times have changed alot. An off duty ranger joined us last time we were there. When we hit Amen corner it was all jammed up. The on duty ranger stopped by to talk to his buddy. They both told us that the course won't back them up if they try and do something about slow play. Management wants everyone to enjoy their round and not be harrassed by the rangers. "As the put it." Slow play is going to kill that place.
As far as the course itself I love it. I really like going there. If it was closer to me I would play it more often until I couldn't take the slow play any longer. I think they did a good job on the course and it has always been in good shape when I have played there. I would pass at $80 though. But then again I pass at most $80 courses. Too many deals out there.

I played it once about 3-4 years back with my father-in-law. They failed to mention that the greens had been aerated earlier back then as well. I guess this is SOP for them? It's unfortunate because had I known about the aeration I would have gone to Beechtree with my father-in-law instead. When I had asked the pro shop guy, why no one had mentioned the aeration when I had phoned in my tee-time the day before, his response was basically "you don't have to play here if you don't want to....."
Great. It's not like Renditions is located in an area that makes it easy to get to other golf courses in the area quickly. We played but it was really a downer since I wanted to go somewhere nice for my father-in-law.

I haven't been back since. Like you said, "too many good deals out there".

I would choose another course. It really does not "replicate" the holes very well. The 17th isn't the same as Sawgrass. It is really flat. I walked Shinecock during the open. The hole at Renditions is nothing like what I saw. I played once. I won't be back. Also my wife played there. I love it when the starter refers to her as "little lady."

I played this course a couple of weeks ago and thought it was very nice. it was windy so made it tricky but the course was in good shape. I thought the links style holes were fun, but would have to agree that number 13(the 17th at TPC Sawgrass was nothing like it, I was at The Players this year and it is way different.)

I have yet to play but would you please elaborate on the island hole and the differences?
