Now that I've gotten used to the grind, I am LOVING this wedge. I'm pretty sure I could flop this thing from the parking lot.

 

One thing though- I have the black nickel version and I still keep blinding myself with the reflection off the face. Kind of wish it was milled or something to help the glare.

Honestly yoons, that's my only complaint - GLARE.

 

I have the "chrome" version, which is a brushed satin finish. On certain shots, it's particularly blinding, but not as much as my old 200 Series Vokey Chromes from the past. My Cleveland chrome 485, which has to be the grandfather of the MP-R, blinds me as well, but I play 99.9% of my greenside shots with the MP-R, so it comes out in the wash.

 

I'm a huge fan of the shape of this wedge. I'd played teardrop-shaped wedges all of my golfing life, but the MP-R, Cleveland 485, and the first Callaway forged wedges REALLY look good to my eyes.

I like my Mizzy MP-R's a lot. Used to play Cleveland Gunmetal Wedges and they felt "heavy" to me. These wedges are "light" by comparison. This allowed me to play my wedges with a more constant swing vs. the feeling of having to hit them hard. The sole has also given me options to open the face up if needed, even though this doesn't often. It's there when I need it.

 

This season will mark the 3 season with the same wedges. The grooves have held up nicely and the finish is still top shelf.

These are what taught me to hit wedges right. I've moved on now to more esoteric boutique-brand Japanese hand-grinds, but I still bag my MP-R 56* or 60* (depending) for greenside sand bunkers and the really rocky stuff. I continue to believe that Mizuno makes the best wedges of all the big OEMs.

Easily one of the best looking wedges on the market. A black nickel finish together with the classic shape and dynamic sole makes these wedges as beautiful as some of the exotic Japanese models like Chikara.

Like any forged club however, the grooves wear faster than a cast club, so they simply don't stay sharp for too long, which reduces spin a bit, especially on short shots where you'd like to see the ball slow down more after hitting the green. The ability to easily open up the wedge for flop shots is super easy thanks to the sole grind.

great wedges. soft, extremely versatile with that very beveled sole grind, and they look great in blk ni. had them for years.
