Can't Decide - G20s or G15 - irons

I hit both the G20 and G15 irons and they seem pretty similar. I was fitted and definitely want to move into some Pings, just having a tough time deciding. Is it worth it to spend the extra $$$ for the G20s right now? What will the g20s give me that the g15s won't?

honestly i don't find any difference

I tried out G20 and i'm getting similar distance with my G5

get g15 and save your self some money

I upgraded from g15's to g20's because of the shafts. the 20's have a little better feel for me. Contact Discount Dan's, you will be surprised at the deal you can get on the G20's.

I dont really like the look of the G20's compared to the G15's. Id probably go G20 though if the price was close, but $200+, id go G15.

I went with the G15's and am not sorry. I can buy the G20's in a year or two at a reduced price when the G25's come out.

I will say that the CFS shaft in the G20's is very nice.

Thanks everyone, I decided to be reasonable and save some cash so I went with the G15's all nice and spec'd out to my fitting. G20s definitely look better but they are so similar to the G15s, the cost difference wasn't justifiable. The savings got me a custom G15 driver too! Can't wait!

I own niether but have hit both a lot. When it got down to shortstrokes I got the i15s which to me have plenty big forgiving long irons and work toward more playable mid and short irons. Also play JXP 800 Pros.
Sorry didn,t mean to go into that but just wanted to say I consider , as do you,the G15 better looking of the two.

You can get the CFS steel shaft in the G15s as well.

It's nothing more than a ZZ65 soft-stepped for (R) flex ; straight in for (S) flex ; hard-stepped for (X) flex.

The ZZ-65 is such a great shaft at no upcharge from Ping, night and day compared to the CS-Lite or AWT.

On topic: great decision to save some money and get the G15, I doubt there is much difference in playability between the two.

Thanks, yea I'm excited for my new purchases to arrive. Ping really has it going on, especially with the fitting/color coding, really simplified the process for me.

Went thru the same decision. Chose G15 with KBS Tour 90 Stiff. Love this setup. I just liked the look and darker finish of the G15s better. And being a little cheaper made the decision easy. You can whatever shafts you want in either club. The stock shaft should not enter your decision making process. Ping will put any Ping shaft in either head, or they will put in another shaft at a slight upcharge.

You're right about the soft/hard being roughly 1/3 of a flex in either direction. A single step wouldn't be significantly different.

I assumed that they were offering a 2x or 3x soft/hard step when speaking with PING Customer Service.

I was told by a Ping rep. that Ping would not put CFS shafts in G15's. This may have been told to me in error but that was the info I got.

I went with the g20

Hit both, Preferred the look of the face and the cavity back of the G20.

G20 has a far better stock shaft for me. (heard it is a remake of the ZZ65, I liked it and this is similar to me)

Kept the G20 down a little according to the thingy at Golf Galaxy.

And, so far as play goes, been out 3 times and to the range once.

I really really like the g20. I am hitting more greens and am able to hit the shot I want with ease. For instance, today a poor drive left me 165 behind a few trees with a space framed low towards the green between and under trees and branches. Pulled it off, so, no way are these the only hit it high club you sometimes hear. Course, that said, the normal trajectory is high, its just you can keep them down.

The GOOD NEWS, its hard to go wrong with modern stuff, for me and my delicate psyche the g20 did it better.
