Just got this today... I don't use training aids, but after seeing the videos on the net, I'm going to give it a try. 1st impression is it seems too simple, but after a few swings in the old office, I'm already sure of its claims. The device when strapped in (my phrasing...lol) is a lot to get accustomed to. Either I need to bend more at the waist or there should be a good amount of tension when trying to set the club in the address position. (It should be noted that i am a 16-20 HCP)

From there the initial take away is as advertised in that the cord will turn the toe up naturally, but you must let it do so. The tendency is to fight it.

Next is getting to the top. It doesn't seem to "feel" any different from my normal swing, but maybe that's just the one part of my homegrown swing that's o.k.... lol

It must be said that I am a classic Over The Top golfer so in the next phase I will wait until I hit the range to comment on transition. More to follow.

P.S. I am purposely swinging in the office w/o balls to ensure that my assessment is true. I tend to take new clubs, swing tips, and or thoughts and improve immediately, but falter down the stretch.. haha :russian_roulette:

Update.....

1st range session is promising. Started with a 7 iron, got strapped in and started by swinging w/o a ball for 5-10 swings. Then, it was hittin time!! Hitting with the aid on was quite easy as I kept reminding myself to let the cord position the club and keep a little tension present. It did not prevent me from pulling shots, but i said before, I'm a high handicapper.

The biggest advantage I witnessed was the loud crack of the club striking the ball at impact. It definitely helps to get you swing through the ball and not at it.

I believe the concept of this device to get you to "feel" what the swing should feel like is spot on.

Once I took it off, the ability to maintain the feeling was not hard at all. The only con I can comment on is not being able to play with this thing during a casual round with my buddies.... lol

P.S. Wearing this device for pitches and chipping is extremely dangerous....... On my 1st attempt at chipping, it put 5 balls within 3 feet of the hole, and about 5 feet of each other, with one going in.:man_in_love:

Is this training aid good for fixing a flat shaft plane in the backswing?

Thanks
[/quote]
I have found that it is. After getting some video lessons, I found out that I was way flat on the back swing. I've been working on it for several months, but then I noticed while it was looking better, my shoulder plane was still flat (e.g., if my shoulder plane was supposed to be 45*, I would be closer to 22.5* on the back swing with my shoulder plane pointing several feet outside of the ball instead of around the 1.5-2 feet that it was supposed to.) The perfect release makes me feel like I'm taking the club back vertically, but in reality it is on plane. Also, I had a tendency to drop the club below plane on the way down and come from way inside hitting either a push or a snap hook. Now with the power release, it puts it on plane on the way down as well. After an hour long session on the simulator with video at the PGA Tour Superstore, I'm a believer. It kept me on plane and when I removed it, I was still on plane! I love that I can hit balls with it. This is helping me take it to the course, where other training aids could get me on plane, but it was so hard to take it to the course with me. With this, I can use it on the driving range before the round and be good to go.

I bought one and have used it a few times. It requires effort to extend the club down to the ground to address the ball and also to start the back swing. This feels quite unnatural.

Once you start the swing the device seems to pull the club up into a good position at the top. The down swing feels fairly normal and my ball striking was fair to good. I did think the device improved my club position at the top.

They say one of the main purposes is to teach a light grip and they offer two tension levels in the bands for that purpose. This should lead to a natural wrist cocking and, if you maintain a light grip, an "automatic" down cocking and good lag. That should improve the impact position etc. The device seemed to accomplish these things if you can maintain light and constant grip pressure. So the device seemed helpful to me while hitting balls but I am still unsure if it transfers to the golf course.

One problem I found is that the part of the device that attaches to the shaft tends to move during the swing. I can't seem to keep it tight enough. Having to replace it after every shot or two is frustrating. A second problem was: I found the effort needed to address the ball (i.e., get the band to stretch down to the ground) and start the club back tired my muscles. This was really noticeable after I went back to hitting balls without the device. This seemed to happen no matter how high up the shaft I attached the device. Maybe this is good strength training, but I doubt that. It also made it significantly harder for me to meet the stated objective of maintaining a light grip.

Overall it is relatively inexpensive and it still seems possible to me that it may improve my swing -- if I can keep the grip light.
