Finally got some new irons

Alright, so here is my first update for the year. Not much has changed since last season other than irons and putter. I decided to go with a component head and went with the Golfsmith P2 heads which have minimal offset. I played my first roudn with them today and they played great. I had them shafted with Rifle 5.5 stepless shafts and gripped with the Lamkin Crossline Red grips.

As for putter I am currently using a very old Ping Zing putter until my Slighter Portland is finished which should be in a couple more weeks.

My current bag is as follows:

Driver: Taylor Made r7 425/Regular Flex Re*aX
3 Wood: Sonartec NP-99/Regular Flex Aldila NV (Stock Blue)
Hybrids: 18* and 22* Nike CPR/Regular Flex Stock shafts
Irons: 5-PW Golfsmith P2 Rifle 5.5 w/Lamkin Red Crossline Grips
Wedges: 52*, 56*, and 60* Taylor Made RAC TP
Putter: Ping Zing (Slighter Portland-ETA Approx. 5/10/07)
Bag: Ogio Edge

I see you have NDS's. What shaft do you have in them? Stock or somethign else?

What kinda swing speed do you have with the 5.5 rifles?

 

I love rifles... and pawn them on everyone...

 

I play 6.5's and there just perfect.... X100 just feel a hair flimsy compared.

 

Anywho the irons look great I enjoy seeing other that oems on irons... they are the most important sticks to me in the bag.

 

Are you a one plane guy?

My swing speed varies from anywhere around 80 to 85 mph. I normally am a two plane guy, but have tinkered with one plane at times.

 

I really like these component heads and they feel just as good or better than most of the OEM stuff I have hit.

You obviously in my minds eye hit a good tee ball.

 

I am trying to leard the one plane/ two plane difference.

 

I believe I am a 2 plane guy, like you and at a slower swing speed it all works great... but faster I loose big time left.. for a lefty.

 

also a poor putter.

Anywho how are you playing these days as a tour hopeful?

Well, my misses are normally to the right, but that comes from a poor swing at times. I rush myself at times and when I do that it is over. I have to really try to slow myself down so I don't get too quick with my swing and then loose the ball off to the right.

 

I struggled with my putter enormously when I was using the Red X2, but since I have switched back to a blade style putter my stroke has gotten better. I played yesterday and didn't putt too awful great, but I think it was mainly because I didn't chip and pitch very well and left myself with a large amount of long putts. I must say though my putting has improved tremendously.

They do feel forged at times, but you can tell when you miss one that they aren't. They have minimal offset as well and the topline is thinner than most. As for price you can't beat them as the heads were only $10 a piece.

Those heads look great. I considering them myself, and at the price I might still pick up a set in the future. Nice sticks! Definitely one of the best looking component iron heads I've seen (except the black naks :russian_roulette: )

They are pretty sweet looking for a component head. The price alone sells these clubs, but when you hit them they feel great. They feel like a forged head on perfect contact, but if you mishit them any you wont be punished as the cast head has a lot of forgiveness. The main thing that sold me was the fact that the offset is minimal and the topline is very thin.
