TT DG XP or TT DL XP - soft stepping?

Need to replace my gaming irons. Kinda torn between TM TP MB or Miz. MP-68. Different thread for that one.

Here's my game (lack of)....I hit irons distance wise better than a Driver. Never care about handicap, SS things, know I have a qucik tempo and know my 7 iron carries consistently on the "range" decent moderate trajectory, 155-160 with 80% range balls. Trying like crazy to get that over on the course, but lose some of the trajectory due to not being as game as most on the board are.

A club builder on the bay sells TM and the Mizzy sets with wide range of custom options as 'used' to be compliant; he has a 100% rating. I was thinking for the TM to go with DG XP S over KBS Tour S for same cost. If I go Mizzy, would pick Dynalite XP S that is available in my cost range.

Question is should I request soft stepping in the build of either club set for mentioned TT shafts, or even if I dare try the KBS? Want to keep it high, and my current and future range set is MP-32 with DG R300 - abit heavy at 127g. Maybe someone will say just ask for weaker lofts.

Theoretically soft stepping will increase launch angel, however it all comes down to your swing.
I'm a little confused as you state that your practice set has DG R300 shafts and you are talking about going to a stiff shaft for your new set. Even with soft stepping there will be a noticable difference in flex / feeling. If you are used to regular flex you are going to have to increase your club head speed to get the best out of a stiff shaft. I see that your 7i is good for 155-160 so I'd think that you could handle a stiff shaft.

I play a stiff shaft and had a practice set with regular flex shafts. They actually helped my swing b/c I really had to slow down my tempo and transition to make them work. In short they really smoothed my swing out.

thanks for your comparison model which is actually what I have been doing as well. With the exception of that whole iron practice set, most every other club I have is in S flex. The irons I am replacing are the Wilson Staff blades with a unique TT TX-105 stiff flex - I actually hit them slighty farther than the MP-32 set of DG R300, and I thought it was due to the approx. 25 g less shaft. So, if I soft step 1x on a DG XP stiff that is 110g, I should in theory be close in swing oomph to these lighter TX-105s in the WS.

Strangely, the DL XP stiff is 117g - option for the Mizzy MP-68.

Hmm, what is a "oomph"? Sorry I don't understand what you are try'n to say in that sentence. If you are asking will the swing speed be the same, probably not, but not that much difference to worry about. Probably will be some difference in swing weight, but again, I don't think that it will make much difference. Lets see who else chimes in on this and what they have to say.

Wilson Staff blades, lol, I have nice set from 1978, 1-pw, that I'll put in the bag when I'm play'n good. I shafted them up with 5.5 PX non flighted and I'm going to soft step them x1. I also really like the old lofts with a 50* pw.
