19° definitely...21° too?

Titleist 585H

So I had to sell my 585H PT after hitting it a total of 2 times to settle some outstanding debts that are now long gone.

R510tp 9.5° is a lock
T60 15° is being acquired (shaft: TBD)
585H PT 19° is a lock as a Christmas time purchase
585H PT 21° ?
My 4i is 22° and my thought that the 21° 585H PT would be a good substitute
Rest of the irons are good for now
Wedges are good
Putter is cemented.

May look at stopping with the pitching wedge if I can get some more irons (with long iron being the 4i) and then getting 53° to 54° wedge and a 58° to 60° wedge.

Do you guys think there is enough of a difference in the lofts and lengths to see both the 19° and 21° hybrids in the bag together or are they too close?

Swingspeed 100-105mph
Driver: about 250-260yds
7i: smooth to 150yds

Trying to feel this thing out...need some advice.

The 21* should replace your 3i and the 19* that you have would be closer to a 2i/5w option.

It's a shame Titleist have dropped the 22deg loft option. I've got the 19 and it is really a 2 iron replacement. I would love to have gone to a 22deg as a 3 iron replacement. I'm thinking 21deg is too close to 19. The 24 is too big of a jump. Frustrating.

Guys, the irons are staying in so suggesting what iron should be replaced is irrelevant. Since he has a 22* 4I, it means the 5I is either 25* or 26*. So the 24* is not a good idea if the 19* is going to be there either way. If we are talking in lofts not "irons" I think that 2* is not very much difference. Distance gap is a pretty big deal so I would find out how far you hit your 15*, 19*, 22* and 24*. If the 585 21* fits in there, you are good to go. Otherwise, try something that gives you a bit more range; you don't want to double up on nearly the same yardage.

Exactly what I was trying to get at. I would have loved a more consistant distance gap like you suggest with the 18°, 21° & 24°.

 

This is my make up I'm trying to achieve...

D: 9.0° 3w: 15° Hyb: 19° 4i: 22° 5i: 25° 6i: 29° 7i: 33°

8i: 37° 9i: 41° PW: 45° GW: 50° SW: 55° LW: 59°

 

So the gaps are good and the 4i is suspect some times I was considering the 21° but at only 2° separation in loft would it be practical? Just preparing to set up my bag for next year.

 

I wonder why they used such an interesting configuration for lofts?

IMO utilities are... utilities! And it is not really necessary that they fully replace anything...

I have a couple of utility clubs (20* and 23*) and depending on the situation, the weather and the course, I may take out a 7 wood or a 5 wood or the 3 and 4 iron.

My traditional set will always be 1, 3, 5 and 7 woods and 3-PW irons with 2 or 3 wedges options and 2 utility clubs options.

With this I am able to decide what to take on the course on any particular day!

Is anyone playing the 585 24 deg? How far do you hit it?

 

Trying to bridge my 3w and 4i. Can hit a 4i about 205. Was thinking about the 19* and 24*. Never owned hybrid but guessing a 24* would go about 215 and 19* 230 for me.

 

Aother option is 906 18* FW but seems pretty close to the 15*.

Ajakkr, you're getting a lot of distance out of that 24° and your distances sound fairly close to mine.

 

That makes me wonder if I should consider the 17° & 21° as opposed to the 19°. I play off of a 14 do you "players" think the 17° would be too much for me?
