replacing the bambi foot

The stand mechanism on my Four 5 was working fine and the legs deployed well when the bag was put down. When the bag was picked up and still vertical, the legs would still retract fine, but they began to get loose and flop about whenever I was wearing the bag and it was horizontal. I inspected the bag carefully, and there weren't any real options for adjustment or tightening anything up. I did notice, however, that the plastic foot piece at the base was so used and fatigued that it no longer had the stiffness to hold up the weight of the legs. I guess this is to be expected since the piece is only plastic and is being bent against the bottom of the bag every time it is put down. Perhaps this is also part of the reason that many stand bags from other manufacturers today have different types of deployment mechanisms.

I decided to give the Sun Mountain customer service line a call and see if this piece was replaceable. I actually ended up calling twice, and both times I got a friendly customer rep in seconds. I was informed that this piece is called a bambi foot, and that they were replaceable. I only had to tell the rep my bag model, and give her my shipping address, and she put in an order to send one out to me free of charge. For the Four 5 in particular, I only had to find out if my bag had 2 or 3 screws in the bottom of the base, since there are apparently two models. I tried to find out if it was dependent on model year or related to the new cart-friendly bottom, but the rep didn't know.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my great experience with Sun Mountain, and hopefully help some others extend the life of these great bags.

I've dealt with Sun Mountain twice regarding my Speed Cart. They were phenomenal in both instances.

Glad to see things have changed... about 5 yrs ago when I had a sag problem they wanted me to send the whole bag in. Ended up just selling it and getting a new one

Have a 2011 Swift ZG which used velcro closure for the hip belt. The 2012 model switched to a clip. Called Sun Mountain fully intending to see if I could just buy the clip replacement and instead they sent it to me for free.

Won me over.
