Cobra Baffler Hybrid

Anybody else still rocking the older Baffler Utility model? I have an 18* with a steel shaft and am wondering how much better the newer hybrids are.

I'm thinking of grabbing a newer 20* that will go about the same as my 18* and dropping the 3 iron so I can pick up a gap wedge. I have good gaps now, but am thinking of switching to some new irons from the S57's. From what I hear, I'm likely to gain a club in distance. Thinking 4-U in the i20's will go about the same as 3-PW in the S57. I'd love to get away with a 20* hybrid that's easier to hit than my current 18*, and keep the same distance. Good ho-ing plan?

I hit the brand new Baffler T Rail on Sunday and really liked it...very easy to hit. The color of the grip and sole might not be for everyone (bright greenish/yellow), but the grip can be changed, though I liked it. I hit the 3 & 4 hybrids and never failed to hit it up in the air with better than average dispersion. My biggest complaint is that it flew too high for me and with that, was not quite as long as the Adams a12 I compared it with. The Adams had a more piercing ball flight (mid launch). I tend to have trouble hitting a 3-wood consistently off the deck, so I plan to give the Baffler T Rail fairway wood a try when it comes out. If it is as easy to get airborne as the hybrids, then I will bag it.

I had an 18* one, and it was quite nice for the price. I found its feel to be rather muted and I had a bit of trouble feeling the clubhead during my swing. It could have been the shaft was too much for it, I dunno. I think the biggest changes since that baffler has been that shafts have gotten better on hybrids, or rather, they make shafts designed for hybrids' requirements...:)
overall, it's decent for the price for sure...

I have last years model Baffler ,19 degrees. I really like it and one of the best features is that it has more of an iron-like appearance than wood-like. I looked at the new ones the other day and didn't see much difference other than the color. That, and looks like new one has a more shallow face. I don't think there will be that much difference though.

I still play a dws at 23 degrees to replace my 3 iron. Haven't hit a hybrid I'd change for yet!

I have a dws and a tws and the dws is better in my opinion. Haven't hit anything new...no need.

wedges from same shovel company

Had a Baffler Pro w/YS-6 shaft -- and when I was on, it was magic. Sadly, I wasn't "on" often enough with it - and the miss was a wicked hook. Just wish I was more consistent with it.....

I have the old Baffler in 23 degree and nothing can knock it out of the bag. I have tried everything even the new RBZ and the Baffler is staying in the bag.

Guys............I hit the new 2012 Cobra Baffler yesterday indoors on a simulator and I was very impressed with the feel and performance. The shaft does a really good job of delivering tight dispersion patterns, which would equate to excellent shot consistency. I am a low ball hitter, so I didn't see a high ball flight pattern. If you get by the grip (and if that bothers you, you can always just take them off), its a very good looking Hybrid. Of all the hybrids on the market, I like the size of this head and the way it sits at address and its visual good looks better than any hybrid on the market. Seriously, its a keeper, and it will be tough to keep out of the bag.

I just recently picked up a Baffler Pro for a great price in great shape. The thing I like most about it is the head has some heft to it. I find if the head is too light then I really can't feel it during swing and tend to be inconsistent.

I tried the new Amp hybrid over the weekend and wasn't overly impressed.

Very interesting. I loved it too, but found that it launched too high as compared to the a12. I went into the test thinking the Baffler was my club and loved it's crazy easy "off the deck" response. It had a fairly tight dispersion, but was high for me. I did my testing outdoors, which I prefer. I need to see flight and where it ends up as opposed to an indoor computer test. I was ready to pull the trigger, until I tried the a12. The a12 is at least 10-15 yards longer due to a more piercing ball flight. I think it is the shaft. The VTS in the a12 was so responsive, I am thinking of buying one for ANY 3-wood i decide to purchase...it was that stable.

I do like the ease of the T Rail Baffler enough to try their strong 3-wood tomorrow. I need a three wood that is easy to get off the turf and my test of their hybrid suggests it is the right choice. Stay tuned...
