Im gonna be orlando this next week and I think i'm gonna go there and get fit. Anybody wanna post there good or bad reviews?

happy to give you one anecdotal experience at hot stix (arizona)..

took both of my sons there - Age 12 (just for driver fitting - based on teacher's recommendation) and then my 15 year old for full set. a couple of take-aways:

1) we had them hit all sorts of clubs on a range (there is a distinct advantage to seeing the ball flight to the very end) as opposed to a booth..
2) the numbers, the numbers, the numbers - it was good to see which specifications produced the best 'prototypical' ball flights per trackman .. (avoid prejudice to brands with an open mind - of course, confidence at address is always important)..
3) it's imperative to go to these fittings with your swing in groove - NOT during a swing change...

since my boys are juniors, they charged about half the normal fees.. (which is a plus). and as for what outcomes were produced by the fittings?

1) for the 12 year old, no other driver and shaft combo could knock out what Dad set up for him..(it turns out that intuition sometimes works).
2) for the 16 year old, we essentially got him a new bag of clubs with specs that matched his swing - i didn't realize how much club speed he had gained with sets that i had purchased a few years earlier. even the putter was adjusted to his stroke..

all in all, i think it was definitely worth going and getting them fitted .. i plan to take my 13 yr old once he gets into adult clubs..

i also have been fit at hot stix. they will give you numbers on everything and can build you clubs that fit you perfectly, of course this all comes at a price. they are good at what they do.

cnfidelis, you must really type at a slow pace. Both of your children celebrated a birthday by the time you finished your reply. I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. However, thanks for the great information. I have considered going to Hot Stix, but have never found the time to make it out to Arizona. Your experience with Hot Stix seems to be on par with the experiences I have heard from others in the past. I like the fact that they don't seem to push one manufacturer over another.

I had a good experience at Hot Stix in Arizona and would agree with the comment above - go there with your swing in shape. I should have spent the money on lessons at that time and then gone for the fitting at a later point in time.

If cost isn't an issue it's well worth it! They do a great job.

got a question. a friend is considering getting fitted by hot stix. he is looking to revamp his whole set and is willing to spend the time and money to do so. however, problem is, he is not a great golfer. he is a beginner. has trouble breaking 120 (and that is with a cap - his max is doulbe par). has a pretty bad slice on his irons and will chunk the ball.

is it worth it for him to get fitted at this stage of his game? he has a consistent swing in that it results in a slice more often than not. his swing looks the same everytime, but its not the correct swing. should he hold off on the fitting or will his swing characteristics stay the same after he improves. thoughts?

Thanks for that glowing review of my game.

Currently, my glaring errors are
1. I keep to much weight on my right foot when I swing and I end up grounding out before the ball
2. Sometimes, to compensate, I dive into the ball with my body and get completely out of the swing plane. My head always wants to move forward
3. I slice the ball due to trying to keep the wrists open at impact and maintaing lag, but with an out to in swing path because I don't keep the club tight to my body.
4. When I start my backswing, my right knee loses flex and my body rises, my swing plane becomes a lot steeper than I think it is.

I'm working with a pro to correct all of these deficiencies in the one month before my fitting.

Should I head over to hot stix or should I just get fitted by a cheaper indoor fitter?

golfnow.com's deal caddy thing had a tour driver fitting for only $39 (regularly $100). I'll be getting fit at the Stanford driving range HotStix center.

I feel like my game will finally start getting better because of this fitting-- I'm currently a 7 and have never had lessons or been properly fit for clubs (other than loft/lie).

my buddy bought both the driver and iron fitting deals last wk, i thought about getting the driver fitting but didn't feel like my swing is "grooved" enough for it to pay off?
