My thoughts on Wilson DXI

Super Driver!!!!!!

I have played either Ping, TaylorMade, or Callaway drivers since I started playing golf. Played a round today at Cypress Point, a local country club in Virginia Beach, and my playing partner happened to have bought the new Wilson DXI. At first I was laughing and joking him being that he went from a Titleist 910 D3 with an after market Whiteboard to a Wilson of all things. After I watched him hit it on the driving range my laughter turned into "Please let me hit that!"

Wilson DXI 9* loft Stock VooDoo and Black Widow grip (this grip is also unbelievable)

My driver today Callaway FT Tour 9* with after market Fubki (love this driver)

Results with his driver was simply astounding. The launch was perfect, I'd say around 13*, and the spin seemed to be low. The driver felt extremely solid. I averaged around 275 yards with his compared to 270 with mine.

His driver was extremely easy to work both directions as well. With my driver it is hard for me to hit a fade, it's a true accident when it happens. But with his I was able to at will.

End point..... I was very impressed with this driver and I'm looking forward to testing new Wilson products next year (bag is set for this year). They truly have improved drastically from the last time I remember hitting anything from them. Only problem I have now is buying a "kmart" club.

Wilson Staff has some great products. I currently game the ci9 irons but am in the market for a driver. I'm not finding what I want from the big dog manufacturers, might have to try it out!

Interesting and good news.

I picked up the DXI 3 and 5 wood for a song totally like new ebay. They shake out I'll snag the driver as well. Havent hit them yet.

I'm looking for a new 3 wood so please let me know how you like it. Toss up between all companies at this point lol.

It always surprises me when slower selling brands seem to get a bad wrap by the masses. A couple of years ago, I would have assumed that wilson was garbage. Someone needs to get the word out.

Here's my thoughts on the Wilson DXi 3 and 5.

First good swinging with them of the year - indoors, simulator. These buys came with an R shaft but if I like them I'll put them to an S to match the rest of my set.

The weight of the 3 feels a bit 'heavy' that might be the bouncier shaft or it might be the actual weight. Hefting the club I thought - 240 is a good estimate. I was dead right. Average after warmup came to 239 with a 253 being tops. Flight path was one of two: 1. my higher flight draw (preferred) or a 2. lower boring hook. The draws came in the 230's 240's and the hooks were 220's. Surprisingly despite the difference in flight path, where they ended up was not too far away from each other.

Feel was OK, I hit two off the toe (or outside centre anyways) I'm sure and they still did what they were supposed to. I did not try to work the ball - woods are my weakness.

Seemed to be quite a consistent club, stats and my gut is telling me there's no reason NOT to use this as a sub for my driver when it gets the yips. I'm perfectly fine with the distance and consistency of it. It has enough dig that the balls I hit off the mat did absolutely fine. It's tough to hit a bad shot with this club. After solid hits - I did not feel like "OMG MARRY ME" but quiet confidence.

It's apparent Wilson did their homework on achieving real solid balancing (the 5 wood is soooo easy to hit) A great deal and a keeper in my bag for $40.
