From the letter, obviously. Much of it thought was funny and I don't think anyone who's been a private club member, or worked at a private club, would find it terribly shocking. The dude exposing himself to the lady caddie or being lewd to the wedding party, yeah, over the line obviously. I played the Lovett School fundraiser tournament later that year with a guy who was relatively well connected in Atlanta (as I suspect nearly everyone at that gathering is) and he talked about it a bit. Didn't name any names, not that the names would have meant anything to me, but said that a few guys got into some hot water, possibly removed from the club and removed off some waitlists at rather prestigious spots around the South.

I would think he is referring to the course which is 30 minutes north of the city. Sounds like you know Atlanta.

 

I have always been amazed at the lack of private clubs within Atlanta city limits. You have Ansley GC right in the middle of the city and then Capital City and Peachtree inside the perimeter but not in the city of Atlanta.  East Lake and Druid Hills are also inside the perimeter but well on the east side and not in "Atlanta".

Cherokee’s course is only 10 minutes north of the city. I regularly get there in 15 minutes from the middle of Buckhead. But he was actually referencing PDC’s intown location, which is in midtown. The actual course is outside the city and well south of where most PDC members live.

Calling BS here. No way in hell you can get from Buckhead (Lenox) to Cherokee in 15 minutes unless you are doing well over the speed limit. It's 20 minutes with no traffic at best. Not even going to address saying the course is 10 minutes from the city considering that doesn't even align with your own accounting of it being 15 minutes from Buckhead which is already north of the city.

I mean I am a born and bred Atlien (technically 4th gen no less) and you aren't getting there in 15 minutes unless you have the absolutely peak perfect conditions and even then it isn't technically 15.

It is like me saying I can get to Settindown Creek in “30 minutes” from Buckhead. I am justifying the drive; when in reality, it is 40 minutes with traffic and lights.

Years ago before I got hurt and could play a bit, I played a couple on that list. Settindown is a really good course but man, every time I played it that course was set up as hard as Chinese algebra and it beat me senseless. 
 

The Athletic Club is really super as well, my favorite in Atlanta (have not played Peachtree.)

I had the round of my life there with the bros and the vibes were high at the time, had time to reevaluate lol.

Some people don’t count the secondary routing of the Old as a separate course but it do. If not 5th would go to either TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm or Sheep Ranch.

Settindown Creek is currently under renovation by Tyler Rae and will reopen in September. Jury is out if will play harder or not.

I played once in a qualifier of some sort I can’t remember for what. Then again as a guest, soon after it had hosted an event of some type. Loved the course, it was by no means unfair….I just caught it on days it was set up hard and I did not have my best stuff.

I have been blessed to have played many fine courses, and to try to rate them would be an injustice IMHO.  Therefore, I will list a couple and clump the rest per my golf trips:

 

1.  All courses @ Bandon Dunes - Oregon

2. All courses @ Whistling Straits - Wisconsin 

3. Pebble Beach - California

4. Both courses @ The Prairie Club, Wild Horse GC & Dismal River GC - Nebraska

5. Southern Hills GC - Oklahoma
