My shoulder is back near 100 percent and I'm back swinging the troy bar along with my other workouts. The bar does get alot easier to swing the more you use it. Just make sure to start of slow and build up over time. I haven't had my SS measured but I am hitting the ball pretty well so far this year (I was 112 late last fall, my guess is 115 -117 now). I've been averaging around 285-290 so far this year with plenty in the 300+ range. Even a few 290 against the wind so I'm happy with my progress. When I get a chance to get my SS measured I'll report back with some more accurate info.

yes, all you have to do is take your normal golf swing. pay attention to mechanics while doing this because it could lead you into bad positions because of the weight. only you can tell if that weight is too much to swing, but eventually after using the bar frequently, it will become lighter.

there is a pain off and on on the top of my shoulder, between my neck and where the shoulder ends.

during high school basketball probably 5 years ago i landed on it trying to do a lay up and its hurt ever since, so its nothing the troy bar caused.

it rarely hurt, but it seemed when using the bar rarely turned into frequently so i just gave it up, even though i did see some improvement in distance.

right now im doing stuff with resistance like turns with a medicine balls and swinging a broom to try to protect the shoulder and still build some strength.

good idea to get off of it and glad that it wasn't the troy bar that initially caused your pain(i'd feel bad if it was) what I think you should do is exactly what your doing, build up the strength and flexability in your shoulders before possibly working the troy bar back into your routine. It can still be used as a stretching bar also, so it doesn't collect dust in the corner.

A little update,

As suggested I started off sloooooooow.

With my normal 3-4x gym workout and swinging the 6lb troy bar, I got my distance back I lost in my irons after taking some time off from golf! I also bomb some drivers into places I never been. I've been working out since late last year, but since adding the troy bar work out to my routine i've noticed almost instant gains in distance and club head speed with the same feel in effort.

I'm still getting used to my added strength and flushing my irons & FW shots off the fairways, I tend to top the ball or catch it thin from time to time due to major weight difference between the bar and club, but its starting to level off as I am get used to the added strength in my swing.

I've only been using it for about 1.5 weeks now about 3 times a week (every other day 20-30 swings through out the day) including time spent at the range. I can pretty much swing the bar close to full speed now.

One more tip besides the many that have already been added.

If you decide to swing in the house. make sure you use a spare carpet over the area youre swinging because i graced the carpet a few times leaving a nice black streak

I have been using one for about 5 month after reading the initial post. I started out with a 95mph club head speed and I am now 127mph with ball speeds of 165+mph. Still playing with a 1" tipped shaft so my consistency is wild. Looking for a 757 in X flex for my 905R to compensate. I easily drive 300 yards, 285 yard 3 woods, 260 yard 2 irons, and even 150 yard PW's. I am going to taper off a little because I do not want to get any farther with my distances. Any recomendations on maintaining my current speed?

WOW, what a gain! Why wouldn't you want to get longer? It's a power game now and your on your way. Just keep on using the troy bar to maintain that speed.

I feel that the longer I get the more my short game suffers. I will decrease my reps from 100 full swings a day to 50 full swings and see how that goes. Hopefully I can get to about 130mph and keep it there.

I kind of flatten out as of late. my carries are still only around 240-250yds right now. Sometimes I really catch one that's just insane, but still no increase in iron distance since my last post, but also found out my irons shafts were waaay to soft so I've been over spinning and ballooning them. I just recently been upgraded to a set of x-100 shaft to lower the trajectory and spin. Going to test them out this weekend.

I would love to get to 160+ ball speed with my driver, but it seems so far fetched.... I Think I need to increase my reps and do it every day instead of every other day.

I have seen 170+ ball speeds when I really lay into it. I was on the long side before taking my break without working out with weighted clubs (285 yard drives). The club feels light as a feather in my hands no matter the shaft I play in it. Keep on going, it will only get faster and faster.

After reading this thread today, I was feeling a little spontaneous. So, I purchased one of these online. I was definitely interested in hearing other's results, so I'll post my results in about a month. I might be able to post results for others like me...I have been lifting weights for 6 years and have managed to lose a LOT of flexibility/distance...hopefully this and a new workout regimen will help.
