GAP Matches 4/22/2012

Did any WRXers play a GAP (Golf Association of Philadelphia) match yesterday? The rain was brutal but still had fun.

I played my first GAP match yesterday. I visited Bala GC in north Philly. Had a blast too, would've been even better if it hadn't rained an 1.5"+ during the round. lol

I played away at Doylestown. It was an experience. That's all I can say. I have played in bad weather more than good, but yesterday was by far the worst weather I've had for a match. They are generally fun, though.

I like playing in the GAP matches. I am not playing in any this year since I switched to a different club just a few weeks prior to the matches but I will definitely play next year. I just wish the rounds weren't so long!

I played away at Northampton CC the first week; so we had to drive almost 2 hours each way in the rain to play 4 plus hours in the rain only to lose by one point. O well the golf course was good and I played very well but most of all met a couple of very nice guys that we played against.

Played Coatesville last week and have to say was a little disappointed with the condition of the course.

Playing Sprinhgaven this week and form what I understand they have done a lot of work on the course in the last few years so looking forward to it. Anyone else play there lately? Any tips or goofy shots I need to be aware of?

I wish I could have played this year. I've been playing really well, too. Weekends are hard to make for me since I have two lovely ladies to entertain (my 20-month old twin girls).

I played at Rolling Green on Sunday. We had a shotgun start at 1 pm as opposed to the 10 am tee time they had planned. Glad we played though, turned into a nice afternoon and the course was in beautiful shape. Good time was had by all.

I played away at Whitemarsh Valley. Got there at 8 a.m. for a 9 tee time but got held off until noon. They fed us before we played instead of after. The course was in fantastic shape and the weather not as bad as expected. Our team (OY in NJ) won home and away. Whitemarsh was an excellent host...good dudes, nice club!

Whitemarsh is awesome. You don't hear much about it but it's a great track, one of my favorites in the area. We go to Wilmington Country Club next week, another good one in a solid rotation for our team this year. I shot 71 at Rolling Green and got beat, don't feel too bad about that one, especially given that our team got the W which is the important thing and my partner and I still nabbed all 3 better ball points.

So I won the front by 5 and closed out the overall. We halved 13. I then lost the last 5 holes. What a roller coaster of a match.

Haha wow. That is a roller coaster. I had a match like that playing away at Loch Nairn one year. I was down 3 after 4 to a guy who never should have won a single hole from me but he kept pouring in 25 footers. I then proceeded to win 4 of the next 5 to win the front, and won 5 holes in a row to start the back and the match was completely over by the 13th.

play was even slower with quarter points. Especially when you get into the lower divisions.

A friend at work played in that last weekend and was telling me about it - didn't sound fun!

It was the most uncomfortable I have ever been on the course. Everything was soaked through by the 6th or 7th hole. Teeth chattering, wet grips you couldn't grasp because your hands were numb. Truly not a day for golf.

It was the most uncomfortable I have ever been on the course. Everything was soaked through by the 6th or 7th hole. Teeth chattering, wet grips you couldn't grasp because your hands were numb. Truly not a day for golf.

My son had a lax game scheduled for that day so I wasn't scheduled to play. Boy was that a stroke of luck. His game got postponed and we were warm and dry at home!
