A fun two days of golf, with my first eagle

Some highs, and some lows

I had a tournament at my home course today which is a par 34, 9 hole First Tee course, but I'll get to that later in my post. Yesterday I went out to play 9 with my buddies Chase and Charles, and they invited their friend Spencer who played on the local college golf team to play along. The first hole is a 265 yard par 4 with tree lined OB to the right and the par 3 number 9 coming towards number 1 tee and number 8 green near number 1 green. The fairway funnels to a bunker that is short right of the green. There is also a bunker about 100 yards out on the left side of the fairway. I hit my driver that was fading towards the center of the green but it ran down towards the bunker but stayed short. I had about a 17 yard pitch shot with 10 yards of fairway and 7 yards of green to work with. I hit my 54* wedge a bit low and it hopped twice in the fairway and hit the stick, then wedging itself between the flag stick and the edge of the cup. I ran over to hi-five Spencer which looked a bit like Louis Oosthuizen's hi-five with his caddy at the Masters after the double eagle. The PGA pro at the First Tee happened to be riding by in the cart at the moment and yelled jokingly to me "That's not good! That's not an eagle!" I then straightened out the flag stick and made it official! My first ever eagle!

The rest of the round unfortunately wasn't so good as my first hole. I went bogey, birdie, double bogey, triple bogey, par, bogey, par, and par to finish for a round of 4 over. I sure would've taken that round today though...

Today was the tournament at the First Tee. I was absolutely stoked for this tournament especially because my friend was walking along with my dad and my high school golf coach to follow me. Normally my dad follows me so this really made my expectations high. To top off the list of expectations, I was number 1 in the "points standings" (similar to a Fed-Ex cup type thing) for my 14-15 division coming into the tournament. On the first hole after my foursome hit our drives my opponent and I got our balls switched up and suffered a 2 stroke penalty. First hole=7. 3 and a half times the amount of my total of the first hole yesterday. I'm disappointed but tell myself that I can shake it off and can "Get back in business." I go on to card a 43 for my front 9. WAYYY off of my average for 9 holes at the First Tee which is 2-3 over. I find out that except for 1 opponent that 2 of my other opponents in my group are a bit annoying which rattles me a bit, and I know that it shouldn't but just couldn't do anything about it... I card a 39 for my back 9, birdieing number 1 and number 9.

All throughout the round my friend Caleb goes to check on the group behind us with his friend Blair who works at the First Tee and is volunteering for our junior tour. Caleb brings back news that my good friend Kyle is playing lights out- 1 over through 13 holes. I think to myself, if I can't salvage this round I definitely want Kyle to win.

When we get in I find out that Kyle has won and that I have come in third place behind the "not annoying guy" in my group. Kyle shot 76, Robert shot 81, and I shot 82 for a par 34 course that we played twice. Thanks for reading guys
