Long Island players interested in a Skins league

Spring Lake Golf Club ; Middle Island

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum to post this. If it isn't please point me in the direction of where it should be posted!

Anyway, Whats going on guys. First off, my name is Matt and I work at Spring Lake over in Middle Island as a cart boy and 9 hole starter. This tuesday we start our skins league, and I was just curious to see if any of you guys that live out this way would be interested in joining up. Here's the run down. Last year we had a great turnout, about 40-50 guys each time. We play the Sandpiper,and for people who aren;'t familiar with our course, it's the 9 hole. Here is how it works.

The league is Tuesday nights at either 5:00, or 5:30. I'll let people know the definite time if I see anyone interested.

There is a $65 registration fee to join. By paying this, you get a couple of things. After each time we play, we get meal cooked by our restaurant. It isn't just like hotdogs and burgers. Some of the meals last year included Penne alla Vodka, Chicken Parm, Sausage and Peppers, Chicken Fingers, French fries etc. Real good food. You get a handicap with our club, reduced green fee's for Tuesday night, and at the end of the season we have a huge party in our party room located inside the restaurant

Each Tuesday, its $41. $26 is for the greens fee with a cart, and $15 goes into the skins pool. The league starts this Tuesday, May 1st, and we go until End of August, early September.

The 9 hole has (2) par 3's. Each par 3 has a closest to the pin which is worth $50.

The handicap you pay for, (like stated above, is included in the $65 registration fee), determines how many strokes you got for the 9 holes. I'm not 100% positive hoe they work it out. The guys in the shop use some sort of formula and determine it that way. Example, the 1st hole is a par 5. If you get a stroke there, and make a birdie 4, its a 4 for a 3 and you have a good chance at winning some money. The amount of cash that goes into the pool varies each week depending on the number of players. We have carry overs if a skin isn't won. I believe last year we went 2 weeks without anyone winning skin, and the guys that eventually won it ended up going home with over $400.

Wow...that be so cool to join, but unfortunatelly, there's no way I'd be able to (run the family businesses... basically only Sunday's are my off day most of the time. Woukd be good to be able to play and follow TRUE game play rules to learn). Good luck with it and post some follow up stories... I'd like to read them...

Absolutely man. As you can tell, so far no one has replied from this website regarding information about it. I was looking at the sheet earlier in the week. We already have a great amount of players signed up. It should be a blast!
