how has no one mentioned the contestants that took shots at hitting their approaches inside the three feet set by one of the contestants. these contestants may be pretty, but they can't be all that smart when they are wasting shots hitting into wind trying to beat a shot that one of the girls stuck to 3 feet. the girl that took/wasted 3 shots should be kicked off the show for lack of common sense. i don't care how aggressive or confident you are, you don't hit those shots.

Kelly Villarreal attempted to Monday qualify for Shoprite, and did not have a good day. Shot 80, last among the group. Here's a blurb from Larry's "Life on Tour" caddie blog... Apparently she had an inexperienced caddie, not sure if that factor'ed in...
(Embarrassed smile) ‘Big Break’ participant Kelly Villarreal tried to qualify this morning. Walking off the first tee, her caddie had the towel stuck to the Velcro on the back of his bib (mandatory for some reason). After six holes, I was told it was still there. He also didn’t realize that player’s cannot keep their own score and snatched her card from the starters tent. He’s scheduled to work the tournament for a veteran player starting Thursday. Good luck bro.

People did mention that bit of idiocy.

Yes, odds are the best won't win, but you never know. A someone posted above it would be nice if they figured out that full shots aren't the way to get it done in the wind every time.

It was interesting, since some of the girls were smart enough not to try to beat the long drive when they knew it was out of their reach... so not sure why Glo and Natalie insisted on trying to beat that 3ft shot. Unless they had no confidence in their bunker game... but yeah seems like bonehead move.

Looks like Aubrey, Christina, Kelly, and Selanee are playing in the ShopRite proam this week, not sure how that works since they are not in the tournament...

EDIT - maybe I misunderstood... perhaps they are attending, not playing?
Might be promotional. Sometimes Golf Channel brings players to an LPGA event during Big Break's air dates and interviews them during the telecast. But I don't understand why Selanee would be there, considering she's listed in this week's Symetra Tour field in Indiana.
Yeah something doesn't add up, I'll ask on twitter and see if I get any response from them... I'm sure I misread something...
Here's a pic from ShopRite, so they are all there...

Is it me or has there been a lot of Big Breaks where they play in very windy conditions. It's more of a skills contest than a golf tournament, but I'd like for them to schedule a series someplace with better weather.

Go Christina!
And why don't ANY of them hit knockdowns? It's very windy....and driving me nuts that not one of them have hit a little knock down punch runner! WTF?
I was thinking this exact same thing. All they want to do is club up and hit the ball high into the air still. I forget which player it was, maybe Julian from BB Ireland, but he hit a 3i that basically never left the ground to put himself in great position because of how windy it was. The only guy on that show to realize that what he did was intentional was the guy he was competing with.

Seriously? Yeah....smokin' body....but that hair....all long and stringy....makes her look like a friggin' witch.

That being written, who am I kidding, i would take any semi-decent looking girl who could play golf.....and this show has got some prime examples.

This must be the info that 78Staff referred to. I saw it tonight on the LPGA site:

Big Break reunion…Plenty of former and current contestants from Golf Channel’s hit series Big Break are onsite this week participating in the numerous pro-ams ShopRite is hosting before tournament play begins. Selanee Henderson, Christina Stockton, Kelly Villarreal, and Aubrey McCormick are all contestants on this season’s Big Break Atlantis and are still in the competition after three eliminations. Former contestants that will be taking part in the pro-am activities this week include: Ashley Prange, Kim Kouwabunpat, Bernadette Luse, Taryn Durham, Jeanne Cho, Brenda Ann Barb, Seema Sadekar, Ryann O'Toole, Gerina Piller and Kristy McPherson.

***

Selanee is playing in the Symetra event, in fact with an early tee time on Friday.

On LPGA.com there's a long interview with Cristie Kerr. Plenty of it focuses on her caddie situation. She dropped a long time caddie after Mobile and starting this week will reunite with Worth Blackwelder, father of Big Break Ireland contestant Mallory Blackwelder. Worth caddied for Cristie early in her career, with 5 wins including one in this event.

Makes sense, seems like they had multiple pro ams at this event so could use all the players they could get...

And for all her perceived faults, it's surprising that Christie doesn't have more caddy turnover...hopefully Worth can get her back on the winning track...

Selanne keeps getting hotter in my eyes. I hope she can get her nerves together on the BB.
That's the best picture I've seen of her. Some hint of a minor makeover.

I noticed that somebody recently posted that Selanee won, according to an inside source. That type of info pops up in Big Break threads frequently, with hit and miss results.

It would explain why Selanee is hanging around an LPGA event, and Big Break functions, deep into the week, instead of prioritizing the Symetra Tour. The winner is going to be associated with Big Break so you might as well embrace it.

Selanee would be one of the weakest Big Break winners, IMO. Not a good putter. But she does hit it deep, an advantage in a match play final. And Selanee was in decent form prior to filming in late January. She was the only player in this cast who made it to LPGA Q School finals last year, contested in early December.

Meghan shot 85-82 in the US Open qualifier at Industry Hills a few days ago.

http://scores.golfweek.com/scores.asp?ACTION=Tournament&TournamentID=5608

Lili Alvarez of Sandals Resorts is still the only Big Breaker who has qualified via the 36 hole events.

BTW, Lori Atsedes of Big Breaks Ka'anapali and Dominican Republic will be in the field in next week's Wegman's LPGA Championship. She qualified by winning a teaching and club professionals national championship late last year.

Sounds like she has a decent game. I hope she can relax and play some good "golf". She looks like a Cali surfer girl, and it would appear that she is in good shape. I love that combo. On another note, Kelly looks like she could kill you with her thighs.

You know, I thought I would be glad to see her gone, but I think I am going to miss her wacky ways.
There really isn't a villain, huge ego, or stand out personality left. Aubrey was the one that was certainly different!
I will say that Natalia sure had an awesome short game working for her tonight. It might make a huge difference in how far she goes if she continues with it.

Gerina coming back next week, woohoo :).

Hard to believe none of the teams could put the ball on the right side of the fairway in the speed challenge, they all lost so much time having to run clear across the fairway. It's like they can only hit those slinging hooks they were taught when younger as a way of gaining distance. Only Anya seems to have the ability it hit it on the right side. Marcella/Christina/Alison owned that challenge though, I was impressed.

Natalia rocked the elim challenge, great short game that the others just don't seem to have. That might make the difference a few more shows down the line. Really struck me how far away from the pin the other girls were hitting those very short chips and pitches. Let's face it, a tour caliber player should have hit every one of those shots inside of 5 ft. Kelly was a train wreck, no chance she was not going to buy her way out of the elim the way she was playing. Tough to lose that many points but no way she would have won the distance challenge, so would have been playing the final hole and stood a good chance of going home. Buying out was the right choice for her tonight. I mean she probably could have eeked out a par but you never know, you don't expect any of them to bogie a short par 5..

Selanee putted so well early, and then freaks out over a 18" putt? Unreal she has to pull it together soon, whatever demons she has going on.

Aubrey...well not sure what to say. I don't think she hit a decent wedge from the fairway in four episodes, unreal. I tagged her early to go home, so certainly not a surprise, but was really surprised in her lack of ability to hit a wedge. And doesn't really seem to realize it, almost in denial. I'm sure the Academy will focus on short game for her tomorrow night.

So, IMO Marcella still looking solid, Anya playing better now, Natalia coming on strong. They seem the strongest right now. Selanee could be strong if she can get over the mental sh$tstorm that is her putting game. Christina, Alison, Glo and Kelly bringing up the rear for various reasons. Kelly a real threat to go home next if she plays like she did this week.

And, was it just me, or did Natalia seem kinda snotty/bitchy tonight?
