Tired of playing by myself thread(Philadelphia area)

Hey Guys. My name is Mark Ratner. As the thread states I am tired of playing golf alone. I have a couple friends that play but are not always around(wife,kids). Im a single guy so I can play all the time. I live in levittown, Pa which is about 35 mins north of Philadelphia. I play all over the area and also have a couple hook ups at private clubs. I play to a 5 handicap if your wonder. So, if your in the same situation as me feel free to send me a pm or something.

I'm in the same boat! I have a few buddies that play, but not seriously so it makes it hard for them to want to join me. Since I have improved none of my friends really want anything to do with joining me on the course. I used to play with my father-in-law quite a bit, but even that happens less frequently now. I will add that I am a married man, but I usually get out two times a week for a morning round and then once in the afternoon.
I am in the bloomington/normal, IL area.

You should check out and perhaps join some of the leagues that are available.

I play in a "formal" Thursday night league, and two different informal skins game on Saturdays and Sundays (traveling). Through these events I have met too many similar golf nuts and can find a game just about anytime. I sent out an email last week and assembled two foursomes for a Tuesday in about 12 minutes.

Move 300 miles west, I'll hook ya up!

There used to b some hustlers lookin for new prey in the summer nights in philly
A dog track called john byrne
Near Torresdale cc
Last time I was there
20 or so scratch guys would meet
Make their wagers
Then tear it up
It was a couple of twiights during the weekdays
They like u
U get invited to real top courses all over the area
They dont give strokes
So u get to play skins basically
So thats where some of the top hustlers used to meet up during week
Some excellent players were there years ago
Most would b 55 to 60 now
Still scratch/plus
Still hitting 280 3 woods to drive #1
There was a quant course in bensalem too
Better easy access courses in sj
Ramblewood
Eagles nest
Pennsauken was a pit
But some philly athletes played it years ago
Then u got pine valley in sj
Some good courses near the shore
Nice tracks in poconos
But philly is a tough area
Most of the top places closed memberships
Munis suck in area
But some of the top philly boys will pick u clean at byrne

I just moved into the area a couple of weeks ago from DC and have been looking for some courses and people to play with also. I am also looking for a good golf shop too.

Near as I can tell, the Byrne hustlers aren't really around anymore. Cobbs Creek has a TON of them though. Then again I'm a product of Juniata so I make it a point to hate all those guys.

Also, in case anyone needs a game I live less than 5 minutes from Jeffersonville and in my circle of friends I'm the only one who can shoot under 90 regularly let alone break 80. So it'd be nice to have some good/better players to go around with.

I live less than 15 minutes from Jeffersonville (East Norriton).

I've heard of the Byrne hustlers but never from anyone with first hand knowledge.

I grew up in Roxborough and had the priviledge of learning golf on the renowned and esteemed Walnut Lane Municipal Golf course.

If you're down for a round this summer I'll definitely be out there. Still looking to get my swing together after a couple of injuries over the last two years, but I like to have fun regardless.

The greater Philly area has great muni's/public courses.

Jeffersonville, Gilbertsville, Glen Mills, Springfield, Turtle Creek, Bella Vista, Hickory Run, Five Ponds, Broad Run, Honeybrook, Lederach, and so on. You can go from cheap in Jeffersonville, Gilbertsville, Springfield and Turtle Creek all the way up to premium in Broad Run and Glen Mills. This is also discounting the great public options at the shore.

I first learned about them in high school, when I hit into some of them on a par 4 (one of half a dozen drivable ones on that course). They weren't happy about it.
