US Open - Mickelson, Woods and Watson grouped together

Just took a look at the pairings and Woods, Mickelson and Watson will be paired together for the first two days. Can't remember this happening before. I always look forward to seeing how the U.S. Open does their pairings as they always keep it interesting. It will be fun to see the McIlroy, Westwood and Donald pairing as well.

Yep...just read this too. Galleries will be huge. Will be interesting to see how each play. They have have interesting story lines. I don't know what to expect from Bubba after not playing much lately, Phil withdrew for "mental fatigue", and the last time Tiger played with Phil he played awful,

Bubba will distract himself right over the cut line. No one ever knows what Phil will do with the driver or putter. Tiger is trending the best of the three and should be putting some heat on Duffner come Sunday-so says Carnac

Hmm...I don't know. I'll say Tiger's group will score better on the first 2 days just because I think Tiger and Phil are going to play very well. I am predicting Donald and Westwood to struggle.

Tiger won't say much about Bubba's comments. He knows that Bubba doesn't understand swing changes, and the majority of the media doesn't seem too either. I just laugh at those who say Tiger's too mechanical or he's too technical. You HAVE to be mechanical for a while when making a swing change. How can you ever expect to become comfortable with the swing if you don't focus on executing it correctly?

Tiger went down the right path. It tricked some people into thinking he was done, but Woods will just laugh at those "mechanical" comments when his career is over.

That's a good question. I think the Westwood, Donald, McIlroy group will score better. I think Bubba is a little bit spaced still from winning the Masters. Phil and Tiger who knows which one is going to come out? Likewise McIlroy, but I'd fancy Westwood to play well and Donald too.

I like this pairing for Phil, he loves playing with Tiger. I expect both of them to play well and leave Bubba behind.

I'm with you on this one MadGolfer76. The fact that most of the comments are non-golf related, more about does Phil like Tiger or Tiger like Bubba and vice versa, leads me to believe this is an unwanted distraction which could jeopardize all three's chances of winning.

Also, it won't help pace of play much will it?

Phil has had TW's number the last few years. There was a time when TW would always outplay Phil. Those days have been few and far between since the 09 Tour Championship. It would nice to see TW return to his previous success and play well, like the 08 US Open where he was matched with Phil the first two days.
