I'm siding with you. It is golf, the most unpredictable of games, played at the graveyard of champions. The huge crowds they attract should make other prominent players pretty easy to follow. GO KUCH!

Really? We need to these two groups to play together in the first two rounds of a US Open? Certainly makes it easier for the television broadcast. Glad I'll be watching on TV rather than there in person. It will be next to impossible to follow Woods/Mickelson/Watson group unless you are well versed in combat gallery tactics. The USGA (and the PGA Tour) don't seem to consider ticket paying fans when they make these type of pairings.

I agree this is good for Phil, he loves playing with Tiger. I think its good for Tiger also, he hasnt forgotten that beating Phil handed him at Pebble, he doesnt want that to happen again.

If Bubba had issues last time out he really wont like this circus but I wish him well.

bubba has actively sought out tiger to play practice rounds with him and has done so for several years now.....don't think he'll be fazed in the least with that and he has his own followers that are a sizable group so i can see him being very comfortable with this pairing. usga got it right with this and everyone else they put together. well done

I think the US open, Open Championship, and Masters winners from the previous year should be paired on Thur and Fri. This thing here looks like a disaster in the making unless olympic and the powers that be have the gallery situation/security in absolute lock down from the get go. Not that I think there is a threat to the players, i just don't want get-out-of-my-way gallery types disrupting anyone in that, or any, group.

Didn't they do this in the 08 US Open where they paired Tiger, Phil, and Adam Scott together? I remember the gallary being outrageous and Tiger out playing them all. Phil especially struggled.

Having watched Tiger and Phil play in back to back groups at Pebble 2010 US Open it's an annoying pairing for the people at the course. Lets see I walked 18 holes and watched a shot front row about once every 3-4 holes and I'm 6'3. So I saw a total of about 6 shots in full view for each player.

Hey, if I forgo a shower for about a week and slap on some natural eau de stench I'll be creating my personal zone of privacy, ain't no one will want to get within 10 feet of me! Strategery, my man!

As for the pairing, looking forward to some awkward intros, uncomfortable silence within the group and some hyper-sensitivity and general irritation targeted towards the fans should things start to go south for any of these guys. Can't wait!

ETA - But actually, more than anything else, I'm looking for some world-class golf being played by these titans for the highest of stakes at a world class venue. Bring it on!

I think Bubba is going to have a bad round 1 and 2 @ US Open because of the size of the gallery following the big 2. Bubba is pretty bad when it comes dealing with moving crowd, nosie from crowd...etc.

No doubt Tiger is on fire, but it is hard to ignore recent history and of late, Phil has outplayed Tiger when they are grouped together.

Bubba - 10 events: 1 win, 4 top 10's, 9 top 25's, 1 cut
Phil - 13 events: 1 win, 5 top 10's, 7 top 25's, 1 cut, 1 WD
Woods - 9 events: 2 wins, 3 top 10's, 5 top 25's, 1 cut, 1 WD

Only going by those numbers, Bubba has the best made cut percentage of the 3 not finishing out of the top 25 of any cut he has made. Woods has 2 wins this year and his obvious record. Phil, I believe, wants to win this more than any other person playing this week.

Got to think that Bubba being paired up with Tiger and Phil isn't good for Bubba, since he hasn't played much golf lately. I like the 3 Brits together myself, I expect all 3 of them to shoot good scores both days as they are all good friends.
