I hit mine off the tee with a draw. It's low, but rolls out forever. I like the control of the lower trajectory over the high launch of a hybrid, personally. I find myself needing a club that I can sneak on to par 5's from the fairway from time to time. This does the trick. If i'm looking at something 240 to carry the bunker/water/beer girl in front of the green, I'm laying up.

I can hit mine about 230 off the tee. It's my 215 club from the fairway on par 5's (which is rare).

380 yards or less. If I can hit driver/ 8 iron or less coming home, it's short.

I have a matching ..... two and a half iron. I have an AP1 3 iron bent to 18 degrees. I have an R300 in mine, which matches my other clubs. I probably don't hit mine close to where you guys do, but I can usually get 220 or so out of it.

I just pulled the trigger on the matching 2i for my set. Instead of a DG300 i had a C taper put in. I also had it cut to my 3i length for the added control. If the shaft doesn't work out replacing it with a DG300 wont be that much of a problem, but right now im looking forward to hitting those low bullets.

Just hit it like a normal long iron. Goes like 215-225 off the tee, 210-220 off the deck. I can hit it low, esp a low stinging hook but can still hit it nice and high. Love that. I'm not kidding when I say it is my favorite club in the bag.

Lynx black cat 2 iron w/ stiff rifle shaft that I picked up at golfsmith for 99 cents (brand new). The idea was to use it when the ball ends up in a rocky area or for a punch shot under the tree. I was a 15 handicap when I bought it, and now my ball striking has improved to the point where it is my go to club off the tee or fairway especially on windy days.

I currently have an Adams Idea Pro Black 18 deg hybrid in the bag. I have a Titleist DCI black 2i that I have had in and out of my bag for the last 7 years in my garage with a PX 6.0 (I play 6.5 in my MP68 but wanted a little more height on the 2i). I also have a Nike VR II Pro blade 2i that I occasionally put the PX 6.0 in and take out for giggles. Phenomenal feeling club with an incredibly trajectory. My most recent 2i purchase was actually a 3i. I bought a MP fli-hi 3i an bent it to 18 deg. It currently has a X100 in it. I occasionally rotate the 2i's in and out of the bag, but the Pro Black hybrid is an incredible club and gets the most play out of the lot lately.

Goes 225 on a fly.
Use it on a tight course in place of a 5 wood or on a windy day.

Grew up with a 2 iron, Just don't like hybrids. Ping Eye 2 2 iron for years. Then I 5 2 iron. Got I 15s last fall. No 2 available (becoming extinct) so at present Driver, 3 wood, I5 2 iron, I15 3- UW, 58 SW/LW and putter. Does what I want. Flies high and rolls out. Great on tight holes, short par 4s and longer par 3s. Sending it back to Ping after summer to be matched (shaft and grip) to the I 15s. Pro taught me years ago just sweep it like a broom, pretend you're swinging a 5 iron and don't try to help it up. Mine flies high and rolls. I see a lot of comments from hybrid players about how awful playing long irons are. Not to start a war, but if you grew up playing long irons you learned. Now as a dinosaur myself I just don't like the hybrid ball flight, no roll out etc. It (2iron) is a killer in August when the ground gets hard and dry. I do switch it out in the winter and early spring for a 5 wood. Ground can be mushy, soft and it's all carry. 8-10 yds more than 2 iron for 5 wd, but no roll If I was learning today I'd probably find Hybrids much easier to play, but I'm sticking to what I hit best. I do get a lot of questions/looks from guys I play with. A friend of my son asked me, " what kind of hybrid is that"? My son said, " one my dad invented back when Bobby Jones was playing." Laughs all around. Young guys today have no respect. When I play with my son and/or his friends I hear comments like, " and Harry Vardon steps to the tee", or " the winner of the 1912 US Open..." No respect! (lol)

MP Fli-hi 2 iron with DGSL300. This isn't seeing the bag much this year as i've not been playing a lot of different courses like I have in years past, but I definitely will not be parting with it.

Joking aside, isn't it suppose to be a 3 iron bent a few degrees strong or something?

My 2 iron matches my set (Ben Hogan Apex plus) and has the same shaft (Apex 4--stiff) and grip. I hit it about 235 including roll from the tee. I don't use it off the deck since I also carry a 16 degree hybrid.

The 2i is more accurate off the tee for me than the hybrid and I get a lower ball flight and roll. It's my go-to club for tight/short par 4's. I don't see myself not playing one for quite a while.

I play D, 16* Hybrid, 2-P, 52*, 58* and putter. I do have a matching 1 iron as well but hit my 2i more consistantly and only gain a couple yards with the 1i, so I keep the 2i in consistantly and only play the 1i when I feel like having the conversation piece in my bag.

I have a MP Fli-Hi 2-iron (18*) w/ DG S300 that goes ~240 off the tee with roll. I can hit it off the ground but the lie needs to be almost perfect.

They don't make a 2 iron in the VR_S forged, so yes, it's the 3 iron bent to 2 iron loft.

My point is, if Tiger thinks a blade for a 2 iron primarily off the tee isn't worth it, what are the rest of us thinking? I'm thinking of adding a 2 iron to my Titleist 680's, but I'm not sure whether to get a matching 2 iron or go for an AP2.

Ping Eye 2+ with a Rifle in it. I use it when it's very windy or off the tee if the course is very short and tight.

Otherwise it's the hybrid in my bag.

If I'm using the 2, its usually going to be something flighted down or needing to be precisely shaped off the tee.

Probably under 400/425 -ish. That would typically be a "less than driver" hole.

I think one of the main reasons Tiger switched to the cavity back was due to the crazy ball speeds he was getting from the VR-S. I'd take 15 more yards compared to an MB 2-iron any day.

Same here. I'm in my late 20's but I always played with my dad's old clubs after he would upgrade. Started with a set of PING Eye 2's with a 2-PW and then went to the 1996 Callaway Big Bertha's 1iron - PW. I just dont like hitting the woods/hybrids. I currently play Driver, 3 Wood, 2-PW, 54*, 60*, putter. The 3wood was a new addition to the bag in May 2012, replacing my 1iron.
