Diablo Tour

Golfmsith has the logo overruns on sale for 15.99/dozen if buying three dozen or more. Now that the 12.99 FG tour sale seesm to be over, I am looking for an alternate ball for the falls season. Is this a good deal and how does the ball compare to the Gamer V2 and FG tour?

I really like this golf ball, I have been using it for most of this season after it was recommended by madgolfer. I don't really have any technical information for you, nor do I care for it, but having played the NXT Tour before the Diablo Tour, it is a far superior ball in my opinion. It is longer off the tee and bites alot more on wedges shots into the green. I have been able to suck this ball back a couple of feet on occasion with a 9 iron and wedges.

I cannot compare this ball to the Gamer as I have never played it. I have however played the FG Tour for quite some time. It isn't really fair to compare the FG Tour and Diablo. The FG Tour is the best ball I have ever played. It spins way more than the Diablo, but with the FG being Urethane and the Diablo being Surlyn, that is only to be expected.

If you manage to stumble on the FG Tours at 12.99 again, no doubt you should get those, but the Diablo at $16 is a really good price in my opinion.

FG Tour Blems are still only $14.96 at BudgetGolf. Same vendor that had them on the bay for $12.99. This is still a huge deal on a great ball. Diablos Tours @ $16 doesn't seem as special.

Also, the Diablo Tour is very similar to the Gamer V2.

thanks for the info, OP. im gonna head over to golfsmith and stock up on these.
hx diablo tour is a great ball.
it gave me great distance and some nice spin around greens.
even though i am not much of a spin guy, i was able to make this ball stick to the green from 135 yards with a 9 iron. normally, i can only do that with pitching/gap/sand wedge and urethane balls.
it plays pretty similar to gamer v2. for me, gamer v2 was longer while diablo tour gave me a bit more spin with short sticks.

The Diablo Tour is a great ball and even better at just $16. Long, straight, with good approach spin and medium spin around the greens. However it has a firmer, clicky cover for putting that I couldn't get used to.

As a result I'm now gaming the Rocketballz. Same distance, just as straight and has a softer cover which I like more for putting. However around the greens I think the Cally has a touch more spin. The RBZ are currently on sale for 2 for $45.

Both are great options in my opinion.

I have been using the Diablo Tours this year as I got a deal on the internet last winter.....$9.95/dozen on a one day offer, so i ordered 4 dozen.

currently, I have 1 3/4 dozen left.

Previously, I played the HX Hot Bites....the Diablo Tours seem to have about the same distance, but more bite on the greens.

I have been playing the Diablo Tour all season too. I started with Chrome, but I just couldn't get the ball to do much more spin wise than Diablo Tour to make it worth the extra money. Plus the cover on Chrome seemed to damage more easily, hit a couple from fairway or greenside bunkers and would find a "v" shaped tear, almost like a hole, in the cover.

I also played a sleeve of NXT Tour I received at an outing last week -- these flew great with the driver and longer irons, but would not spin at all for me on the greens, just hit, release and roll away. It was much, much different response than I was accustomed to with Diablo Tour ball.

I stocked up on Diablo Tour balls last week with a good fleabay deal, and your price is a good one too.

Thanks for the input. Will be trying the Tours this weekend and if they are any better than the Gamers, I would be thrilled. I did mess up buying the logo overruns and found out I had mistakenly filled in about 8 regular diablo balls.
Anybody know of any sales of the Wilson Staff FG Tours?

FG Tour Blems are still $15 @ budgetgolf. Most of us found very few blemishes. These are great balls.

Thanks - I thought they had sold out.
Tried the Callaway Diablo Tour today and did not think it was anything special. I have been playing the FG Tours his summer which is probably one of the few urethane balls a mid handicap hacker can handle well. Anyway, for the price and for me the FG tour is a much better ball especially with the wedges and irons. The diablo Tour was not bad but once you get used to urethane, it's hard to go back!! The FG seems to have less side spin than the Callaway for me resulting in straighter drives but shoter by about 5 yards. The Callaway is similar and better than the Gamer V2 which I played a lot last year.
