I think you might enjoy this story. Jeremy is a fine, collegiate golfer but, as you will learn, an amazing young man. The next time you have issues with your game, think about the issues Jeremy deals with every day.

An Amazing story Smitty, about an amazing young man. I do believe that any who will take the time to watch, and listen to this video will come away with a greater appreciation of this youngster who was faced with life's most difficult challenges, and how he leaned to cope with, and to accept his new life. :yes:

Pretty cool of Tom Watson as well, in that he gave two hour of himself for this young man that didn't know. My hats off to Watson :hi: .

Great point. Not many sports figures that you hear about that do a similar deal for a fan or average person such as in this case. Very cool of Tom to do this. Hats off to Mr. Watson indeed.

An incredibly inspirational story indeed on many levels.

Not lost should be the fact that someone quite literally gave their heart to this brave young man - someone died and he gained new life from it. Let this serve as an inspiration to at least consider becoming an organ donor. From a tragic event springs hope and new life.

There's actually a PGA Tour professional golfer named Erik Compton that has been through this twice. I can't believe someone could go through 3 hearts and still be a top level player.

I have come to believe that there is something about our sport that taps into some wonderful, inner well of passion. That fountain lies within all of us but some golfers are are more sensitive to the transcendental than others. This lucky few are able to draw upon the treasures this "well" provides. It seems the more we are open to the transcendent nature of our sport, the more golf becomes more than a game for us. It's that "well" that people like Jeremy and Erik "drink" fro when they need it. What make is truly wonderful though is this - that even if they haven't found it on their own, it finds them. And it waits, patiently, hoping that at some point they will recognize the gift they have been given and treasure it.

Well stated.

What I find frustrating is when we work hard to keep someone going who might potentially be harvested and the ball gets dropped at the receiving facility. We ran on a 19-year-old shot in the head. Clearly a fatal wound but his young and strong heart kept going. We kept his airway secure and basically just keep him as stable as we could. When we arrived at the ER they determined that there was no hope. Family was notified and I asked the nurse if he might be a candidate for harvesting. "The doctor doesn't want to ask the family that - they have been through enough."

He died later that afternoon and was not harvested. His death was a sad tragedy on many levels. There are definitely some flaws in the system. (He was a tall young man too which meant that his heart would have been a likely fit for someone of equal size. "Regular sized" candidates are far more likely to get organs than those who are ultra large or small)
