Just applied for a job at Kapalua!

My wife and I just spent two weeks in August at Kaanapali, just down the road from Kapalua.. It was fabulous but here is some food (literally) for thought.

A loaf of bread.... $5-$7
Milk.......................$3 a quart
Eggs.....................$3 a dozen
Gas.......................$4.40-$4.60 a gallon

A dingy one bedroom apartment will cost $800 a month and up.

Obviously you weigh the pros and cons before making the jump.

So it's been a few days and I haven't heard anything from Kapalua or Callaway, however I have an interview with dicks tomorrow (hopefully for the golf dept.).... Man I need OUT of the north east

I have been to Maui many times. It is by far the best place in the world - Especially the side of the island where Kapalua and Kaanapali are located. If I was not grounded here in New England w/ family, job, wife, kid, etc., Maui would be one of the first places I would look to go. Things are slightly more expensive obviously bc you're on an island, but, it would be a great experience. You could also migrate to Honolulu if you wanted to. Only a 25 minute plane ride. However, not as beautiful as Maui by any means.

Just got back from Maui about a month ago and I agree with the above post about it being the best place in the world. You will for sure be in awe the the first time you arrive there! I got to play Kapalua and it was an incredible experience, made triple on the 9th (we started on 10) to shoot 82 from the tips! Good luck with the job!

My girlfriend's uncle is the GM at the Fairmont in Maui. Luckily for me, they have some sort of deal with Kapalua and when I visit there every year I get to play some rounds for next to nothing. Love that course. Maybe see you there sometime soon! :taunt:

To be young. Once you're married with kids, those kinds of spontaneous life adventures are pretty much over. My advice... TRY EVERYTHING. Don't let those kinds of adult wet blankets about cost of living slow you down. Some people never want to leave their back yards, and they are content with that for a lifetime, but others want to see what the world has to offer, and personally I think live better lives and appreciate life more, and even their home town more for having done it. Go for it!

Great Advice!! I followed the same route to an extent in my early 20's. By the time I was 35, I had settled down into a nice life in the same job, same house and same woman. I don't feel like I missed out on too much. A few of my HS friends never left the small town we grew up in and are still there, seeing their grandkids go to the same schools they did. There's some appeal to that as well. Howver, one of my good friends ask me often...what was it like to see California...what was Florida like....etc.
