Harrison Shafts

Looking for a bit of advice on Harrison shafts. Having only ever heard good things about these I'm interested in trying one and I'm going to install one into my G20 9.5 degree driver. My swing speed is roughly 105.

Looking at them I'm unsure which will be best for me as the information on these is a bit sparse on the ground. I want a mid/low launch with low spin. I'm looking at the Saga and the Mugen Black or even the Eclipse. Can anyone shed any light and offer opinions into which will be best suited.

Opinions welcome.

I would email Harrison directly. Last year, I tried both a Saga and Eclipse in my K15. I emailed them my specs and what I was looking for and they promptly replied back later that same day with their suggetions. I really didn't find much difference between the 2 shafts. Both seemed to be mid flight for me, with a minimal distance gain vs. the stock TFC shaft. But what I really liked was the tighter dispersion I got from them, especially with the K15 (i fight a slice). I hastily got rid of both, but if I went back, I would get the Saga.

I currently have the Saga in both my fairway woods, the Mugen Black in my driver. And in the past had an Eclipse in my driver, but it broke. They are all fairly mid launch with the exception of the Mugen Blue (Low) an Mugen Red (High); spin is mid-low for all Harrison shafts.

I personally love them, very smooth, very tight dispersion, and good distance all at a great price. Of the three I've tried, I feel the Eclipse was the longest, Mugen Black was lowest spin, and the Saga fell somewhere in the middle. If your uncertain, I'd definitely call or email Harrison, their customer service is very good.

The Saga is, without question, my favorite driver shaft of all time. Best combination of distance, dispersion, flight, and feel as far as I am concerned. Feels soft to flex, but VERY stable. Great match with low spin bomber heads. The flight and spin is mid/mid or mid/low in the heavier, stiffer models. Very comparable to the Diamana Blueboard, but better; like a Blueboard on steroids.

Every time I install that shaft in a driver head, I get a bunch of extra yards. That whole giant "Adams 9015D...uhhhh, ballspeed" thread only got that long because half of the three thousand or so guys who posted in it were installing the Saga into it. That thread is as much a testament to the Saga as to the A4.

Worst part is that they raised their prices, but I have a 60s pull lying around if anyone is interested.

Excellent stuff gentlemen. Looks like I could be ordering a Saga 70 tomorrow in stiff flex. Loved the blueboard in the Rapture V2 so quite excited about a G20 ~ Saga combination. Could be a winner.

Thank you all for your replies.

Haha!! I'm still playing the 9015 with the Saga. That thing is still a bomber when caught on the screws. Problem is I don't catch it on the screws enough. Great feeling shaft though.

I loved that head. Trouble was I always played my Saga/A4 combos too long and blocked shots off the planet. When they went straight, though...yowza.

Where do you get your Harrison shafts?
[/quote]

Ebay stores, although they can be purchased right from Harrison for not much more money. Rockbottomgolf.com has them occasionally (right now, I think).

If your tempo is at all quick then look at the Mugen 70 Black - superb shaft which plays a little stout. The 60 plays true to flex imo.. The Eclipse will offer better control for stronger swings than the Saga, at the expense perhaps of some of the sweet feel. The Striper H2 offers outstanding ballspeed but probably launches higher than you'd like. The Mugen Blue is the lowest launch but of an older design and I'd prefer the Black 70

My tempo is quite smooth and deliberate so I think I'll go with the Saga. Suck it and see, at worst its £70 down the drain but I'm confident it'll work well as I'm after a blueboard type shaft.

Thanks again and more reviews welcome.

Sorry, one last question if anyone has any experience of the following shafts. How does the Harrison Saga 70 compare to the Diamana Kai'li 70, flight feel wise etc.

I just won a Kai'li on eBay which I got for a song. I'd like to compare both side by side.

Depending on flex you need, you should check out rockbottomgolf.com. Just bought one last night, much better price than $120.

Yeah I saw those on there and they are better at $80 but that's still on special. I'm just amazed how much they jacked up the price on a shaft that's been out for quite a few years now.

The Kai'li, as I remember, is a lit firmer feeling than either the Blueboard or the Saga. Performance wise, they should do similar things. Anecdotally speaking, I believe the Saga will feel a little smoother and more explosive, but that is just me.
