SS7 & Boxcar

redefined

Recommended Posts

So I sold my Scotty a few nights ago and am putter-less!! AHHHH I've made my mind up on a Bettinardi, love the feel of them. I've put with a handful of current 2012 models at my local PGA Superstore but the 2 that really catch my eye are the Boxcar and the SS7. The SS7 is still made right? Just not in any different finishes, black only? The Boxcar is made but only with a straight center mount shaft, no other shaft style options? Or is the current one not really a Boxcar?

Every time I look for a boxcar I find the Koolaid ones which are amazing but none of these styles are made any longer?

Thanks in advance! Help me find a new putter!!!

Another is available and at a pre-loved price tag, a little more stealthy though.

The pre-black oxide finish done by Bettinardi COA is included and a photo of the details section is included

Sorry I don't know to post a Classified on here, I'm from Putter Talk and haven't been on here long

My current gamer. Best putter I've ever used & I've used several. Jimmy is great to deal with.

Thanks guys. I actually paid for a Slotcar last night! I'm super excited. Just need to figure out what to do with the shaft as I either need to replace it or extend the current one. Going to wait till it gets here to see if I can tell what shaft is currently in it. Anyone know what shafts were used in the box/slotcar putters? Part of me wants to just replace it with a new one instead of extending this one.

Why ? you'll never see or feel the extension.

Which slotcar did you get ? I had a slotcar once, mine looked a little something like this

That one looks great! I dunno, I might end up just extending it. Sometimes I feel like extending is just taking the cheap way out, haha!

Here is a link to the one I just got on the registry. Except the paintfill is orange not yellow now.

That one looks awesome! I have one that is similar, although I think the neck on mine is longer. Yours will probably have the stepless black pvd shaft you see in the registry pics as well as the man with no aim's pics. My boxcar has that shaft, as well as the other Betti I recently picked up from Nick at bettinarditourstock.com. Looks pretty bada$$ if you ask me.

I dunno, the neck on redifined looks pretty long, mine always look a little short as they've been recycled from busted 44 magnums :swoon:

I've always loved the stepless black PVD shafts although, when them made them the black prism were the mutts nuts, I had one in RJB1905

Anyway you guys enjoy your box/slotcars, I finally decided on a few more curves on my big bootyed mallets and went the HMM route & if you think black PVD shafts look kool you should see them with a black oxide finish on a DASS putter head, not uber kool just under the radar stealthy see what you reckon below on my current gamer.

I don't think I was very clear that my post was responding to redefined. Mine has a looooong neck: http://bettinardi.com/registry/detail/3354

I definitely agree with your thoughts on the shafts, and I love looking at your beautiful putters (here and on PT) !!

Man that is Loooooong & she's a keeper for sure, I think I''d need about 3 or 4 44 mag necks to get anywhere near that, Bruce on PT reckons long necks to stablize the head through the stroke, you find that neck helps ?

Glad you like the putters, most have gone now to better homes, mostly your side of the pond, a couple in Asia & I guess Hawaii counts even if it was the last state

I wish I could get on PT, I've registered 2 accounts and sent myself something like 6 or 7 registration emails but I never recieve them so I can't activate my account. If anyone has any connections or wants to PM a mod over there I'd appreciate it, same user name as here.

Man that HMM is sexy! I have a feeling this is the start of a bad addiction problem, haha!
PT has some operating issues right now well, they've been off'n'on for a couple of months now, the owner is working on them, having changed a lot of the system back in the fall although, it hasn't gone smoothly due entirely, to trying to retain all the previous content. A side effect of all this work has been PT being quieter than here but, the histroic posts contain a wealth of information on an aweful lot of the smaller (well Marketing budget wise) manufacturers. Keep the faith I'm sure the owners will get it right sometime soon.
Pretty sure that its not that one that you got.... Because I currently own RJB3308, and the paintfill is still yellow. Unless I sold it and forgot.... Which I didn't. ;)

It doesn't see a ton of action, but its in the staff bag with her other 13 Betty sisters. :)

Be that as it may... Im holding 3308 in my hands right now. And trust me.... I know which ones I own.

Unless they made 2 with the exact same paintfill/neck color configurations. It is possible as there are more than a few that are not in the registry. But when I bought mine; it was 3308 and I believe I have the registry papers kicking around as well somewhere.

Doesn't really matter... Betti's are some of the finest putters made, and I'm sure you will be very happy with yours.

So they only make 1 with the same reg in history? Kinda like a VIN number for a car?
Yup. Reg #'s are only used once. But as I said.... Many tour putters are not in the registry. I own quite a few rare and pretty recent tour putters that are not in the registry at all.

Ok so you bought yours from the same guy I'm buying this one from. He told me the wrong number. Same guy I think, unless he's reading this and pulling me around. The numbers I take it are not stamped on the putter?

Not stamped on the putter.

Don't sweat it, I know the seller and he did accidentaly give u the wrong registry #. He is a solid guy and personal friend. You'll love the putter you are getting. :)

NFinch, I really like the look of that super LN! Is it face balanced? I own a similar HMM, 3713, and it is ever so slightly not balanced.

And T, not to nitpick, but there's more FN's out there now. A few more were made this year, to add to the original two. One of those is pictured to the left. Another is in the BST presently (a copper beauty).

My mistake Mike, a little bit of senility creeping in perhaps obviously, its nothing to do with the malt I consume, can't be, I've been drinking for what seems like forever without any memory loss, the odd spinning the ceiling admittedly which Mrs T has to hold till I drop off to sleep Oh and I did once wake up with the mother-in-law one morning, but never any memory loss.

I'm concerned now, I better see the quack, I might be drinking too much, I might be drinking too little, hell I might be drinking Malt Whiskey of too poor a quality, I'll go the off-licence (Translation. liquor store) first, better to explore all posibilities prior to wasting a professional's time. :taunt:

Of course I seen Matt's Copper HMM with welded DASS neck even spoken with him about it, hows yours look at address ? does the shaft seem to crowd the ball a touch, has it got the bag spot now or are you still flitting between that and BB-54 ?

Regards
T

CPP- Thanks! I only wish I could own some of the putters that I have seen you list! It has just the slightest amount of toe hang, but is very close to face balanced, probably simialr to yours.

man with no aim- This was my first LN pick up. I got it in a trade for a Byron I had that wasn't getting used and figured I give the LN a try. I'm still not totally sold on them, but I'm starting to think that they fit my stroke really well. "Stable" is a good word for how it feels. It gives me a lot of confidence to just line it up and let the putt go (less thinking about the mechanics of the stroke). Over the past few years, I've actually gone from being a strictly FN guy, then on to PN, and now I think I'm a LN PN guy. I very recently got a LN PN 006 from luv2golo that is seeing a lot of bag time right now (thanks man!) and should be adding a LN Uselton shortly. Who nows what I'll be into a year from now though!

I was in the same boat for a long time. Kept trying to register but never received the emails. A month or so ago, tried logging on with a username/password combo I had attempted to register in the past and it worked. Maybe try that and see if it works for you.
