Feedback for my banged up swing-please!

I can't really afford traditional instruction, so I thought I'd have you guys take a look and tell me what you think. I like hearing anything about my swing and any ideas you have to improve on it. I am battling many demons. I will list a few of them. I also have a couple videos.

- Super strong grip has my club face pointing straight at the sky. I feel like I lose all power and control if I try and weaken it. I also do not know how to weaken it without putting the grip in my palm and that just doesn't feel right. My arms naturally hang inward and I have a hockey background, so I think that has something to do with how I hold the handle.

-inside take-away. I don't know how to generate power without sucking the club inside? I can't seem to grasp a "connected" backswing that doesn't go inside. Would love to hear some tips or "feels" that would allow me to stay connected, but keep the club out in front of me.

-After all this, I come from the extreme inside path. All my divots point right, way right. My misses are hooks, my good shots are push-hooks. I tend to drop-kick a lot and hit all my irons thin. I actually rarely take a divot. I tired of hitting everything thin. I've been topping drives lately, and i haven't topped drives since I was very young.

Arm swing too flat going back making path too in to out, forcing you to play ball vary far back in stance. Possibly vice versa.

Thanks Monte! I have some work to do. That feels like I am going to completely go way over the top of it..like I am too steep? But I guess it should feel weird since i have been low and flat for so long.

i struggled with the exact same problem for years!

see how quick your left forearm rotates in the takeaway! that sucks the club way in.

strong grip feels comfortable for that kind of takeaway, because you feel like you can hinge your right wrist immediately and still feel like club is on plane.

fix for me was:

- weaken your right hand grip a bit
- don't use hands/wrists/arms in takeaway.i focus on my left hand/wrist/forearm unit and want it to stay intact (no independent rotation or hinging) in early part of the backswing.

this really feels weird at first - feel like club is shut and arms are way in front of your body. but do it slowly and you can even exaggerate it (no wrist c0ck and forearm rotation until left arm parallel to ground) to ingrain the correct feeling mentally. this will also widen your backswing arc since your wrists will hinge way later.

correct backswing feels like - everything moved because you just turned your shoulders/body. technically this is not true since your arms have to lift, but it feels that way.

Good stuff! I will try that. I have like (what I feel like) 5-6 different swings that I rotate through when things are going bad. One of them is similar to what your describing. I try to not move my hands and just turn my shoulders and essentially lift late. Problem is to achieve the "one piece" I have to lower my hands and move them closer to my body. Some days I hit it great, other days not so much. That's when I move on the the next swing lol..
