Cleveland is a joke

Ordered a Cleveland Custom Classic XL three weeks ago at a Cleveland demo day. Needed it for a tournament starting this Thursday.

 

First, it's supposed to ship last Monday. Then the rep promises it will ship Wednesday. Then, it's suppsoed to ship Friday.

 

Now, not shipping until Tuesday. Obviously, not in time for tournament.

 

Going back to Callaway Razr fit Extreme instead.

I guess klbcec is taking his talents to Callaway. When does his "decision" air? In all reality it is disappointing when a club doesn't show up when expected. It's like a kid waking up to find nothing under the tree on Christmas morning.

I'm not trying to act like a prima donna, and I guess it comes off the way. It's just annoying as hell that a company knew I needed it, promised I would have it, and three separate times failed to do what it said it would.

Sure, it makes me want to spend my $$$$$ with another company.

Actually you are probably spot on. Cleveland is struggling at best. Over the past several years it seems that they have lost touch with what golfers really want. Their only strong point for sometime now has been their wedges. This is not the first time I have heard recently that special orders are unduly delayed too. It would not surprise me if they get bought out soon by someone like Taylormade whose clubs I like a lot but their wedge division could use some help.

Last years driver was very good, but I bought it halfway through last year on the BST forum for cheap.

I dont get why people order new gear right before tournents. I see this alot on Ebay and Craigslist guys saying they need it quick for a tournament. I would get emails to expedite or guys on craigslsit wanting to meet asap as they needed it the next day.

I'm guessing these aren't scratch tournaments, however.

Cleveland is alive and well and continues to produce some very good clubs. The new XL Custom drivers will be available at your local shop soon enough!

What's annoying is Cleveland didn't keep their word three times. You have every right to be upset and I would've cancelled the order based on principle.

Cleveland's line this year is very solid. They are getting fitting carts into a lot of accounts hands which will make a big difference.

Pre-ordered mine, direct from Cleveland, said it shipped a week ago, then the wrong club shows up.

Talk to customer service, get the run around for a bit saying they were back ordered and that it would be end of March first of April until they get more.

Finally talked to another person who said launch was pushed back until March 1st and that they would try to get mine out as soon as possible.

So who knows, cannot believe they dropped the ball this bad on a launch year.

Give the guy a break...Cleveland is not in a good p,ace right now. Love the options of their new line, but they were late to the gate with several false launch dates. Great new line? I hope it is, but they suck with marketing and they are currently well off their game. I said such two weeks ago and caught holy hell...no apologies needed...you stand corrected, they were late with their launch.

I guess they could have rushed it to market......I won't name names......and then we could have a giant thread about what's wrong with it. I don't think I've ever seen a defective Cleveland, at least a systemic problem anyway........

Sorry for your experience...but this is why I never order something I need to have on a specific date...especially for a tournament...that's just asking for things to go wrong...I actually think Clevelands line up this year is really, really good...I'm sure you'll find something you like some place else...good luck to ya

CLeveland is in the dumps. They have lost half their worth and have recently put their sales guys as independents versus employees, now they are scattering for jobs. I see Srixon dumping them within 6 months and TaylorMade buying them so they can actually have a great wedge line. Give it a year boys and Cleveland will overtake Titleist as the best selling wedge.

It's all about the honeymoon phase! Brand new stick, you know you love it right out the gate. I remember back in high school a guy on our team playing for individual at state, got a new driver the day before the tourney started. I asked him why he would do that and his response was "you know how well you hit a driver when you first get it" and sure enough, he won the whole thing. I think he got rid of it about a month later when he couldn't hit a fairway to save his life, but during the tourney, he hit about 80% of his fairways.

I'm sure it greatly depends on the player, but either way, I'm sure this is the "justification" people will use.

I can see why the OP is upset. Three times..

Heres my issue and this is from a HUGE fan boy.. They have great gear out.. but refuse to use/release it. I get that they dont want to compete with srixon but you dont have to. Well you actually cant as Srixon pulled out of the US. But Bridestones are usually a rebadged version of tourstages so why cant cleveland just rebadge srixons? Tell me who wouldnt want the x25 options (525, 725, 925) vice the MT/TT? I promise the Ztx 2s would have outsold the CG16s 4-1.

I was happy to go into the local GG and hear that all the XL customs sold 'immediately". Means that they had some buzz. But posts like this kinda make the excitement a mute point. Get people excited and dont deliver... Pretty sure thats not a recipe for success.

At least Srixons marketing their balls..

Gotta say you're on to something here. I still have a set of Srixon i-701 Tours and LOVE them. They make some great sticks and I'd bet you're right about the ZTX 2s outselling what was the CG16s. No doubt in my mind. The fact they partner up with Miyazaki just helps the cause too when it comes to a good 'stock' shaft.
