Iron shaft question

Picking out shafts to reshaft my MP 33s today. Have had three sets of them, and all had TTDG S300.

 

I believe it is the correct shaft for me, but what is the advantage of Project X for $20 more per club?

 

Play two times per week 52 weeks per year.

HDCP range 2 to 5 (If I could chip, I would be a scratch but I yip my chips)

Hit my MP 33 5 iron 180 yds.

Natural high ball hitter with draw/hook but prefer to play a fade on 90% of shots (a fade listens).

I feel like the the DG S300 helps me lower the ball flight

47 years old.

Been playing for 30 years.

Driver SS 105-108

Have never had anything but DG S300 for 25 years

Like the present combo of MP 33 because I feel like I can make the ball do whatever I want as far as trajectory and curve.

 

Is there any other shafts I should consider?

I am in the same boat as you. Looking for a new set of irons but wanna try another shaft. I am gonna go to a demo day and try out so I can really see and feel what the ball is doing.

Project X is supposed to be higher launching shaft. I think it is personal preference whether the cost outweighs the benefit. I would look at the KBS C-Taper. It is a stout, tip stiff shaft that is supposed to lower trajectory, spin, and increase distance. All claims but worth a demo.

I play PX 6.0 non flighted. If you're looking for a shaft with a slightly lower ball flight with a little better feedback, I'd go with the KBS Tour. If you want to stay within the TT family, I'd look at the Black Gold or Tour Concept series. I had the Tour Concept in a set of TM 300 irons and they were fantastic. Regret selling them as the long irons were designed to fly high, the mid irons had a mid flight trajectory and the scoring irons had a lower, piercing trajectory designed for control. A friend of mine has the Black Gold in a set of KZG irons and they feel fantastic with a mid flight trajectory.

If I were you, I would choose which iron I like hitting the most and then order one shaft of each. If not, find someone or a big box store that has an extensive fitting cart featuring those shafts. Well worth the experiment to find what works best.
