Yeah. Honestly I've just been going to the range and trying to get over the the shanks that I seem to have developed at Triggs. So far things are a lot better. So really I'll play anywhere right now.

Funny how things can get away from you so quickly. For the longest time I wasn't able to hit the ball left to right if you paid me. I always had a nice little draw. When things got bad I'd have a hook like you read about.

So I experimented with weakening my grip a little. I'd always had a very strong grip. Weakening it brought my shots from right to left to pretty much dead straight and very high. I lost a little distance due less roll out. I then learned to hit a little fade. I thought this was great. Now I know how to hit both of these. A draw and a fade.

Then I started hitting shanks and it was aweful. I was looking into everything possible to find the cause. Turns out my grip was so weak that I was leaving the face about 10* open at impact. Recipe for a crazy shank or a super high fade/slice

It always amazing me when you see golf instruction videos or articles an they say that if you want to fix something to go and do the opposite. Exaggerate the fix. This is in an attempt to make small improvements as the thought process is that when you ask for huge change you tend to get little changes instead. Well for me when I ask for a huge change I get a huge change. I need to remember that whenever I change something.

All in all I don't mind making crazy mistakes like this. Because now I know the results Of doing it. And if I ever have a problem related to such things in the future, I know what can cause it and how I can start to fix it.

Starting on the par 4 3rd. Ick. Not a good hole to start on without a swing working, being the most difficult on the course.

Then again, get it over quick, right?

I'm the guy with the RBZ bag and Stewie driver Cover. :D

Missed ya. Hmm.

Anyhoo, finished with an 84. Tip one, never look at a scorecard if you're having a good round. We started on 3 so finished 18, 1, 2.

On 18, put it through the fairway, had to punch out, then I topped my 6i, put my hybrid to the bunker in front of the green, then 2 putted for a 7. I deserve it though for the bad drive.

On 1, on in 2... and 4 putted (the last three being about 1.5 feet for all three). :unamused:
On 2, on in 2... and 3 putted. :unamused:

9 putts on the last three holes. Gah!

I've never broken 80 before. I looked at my card and said 'is this the one?' GAH!!! SO close, just couldn't finish strong.

I think I won the Net B, and this is also the 1st time I got in the Zeroes. So overall, it was still a great day and more to come. :)

Hey! I think I spoke with you briefly downstairs after the round. I was the kid in the camo hat and green shirt sitting down. You came over to my table briefly and described your final holes and I remember you telling me you were so close to breaking 80 having never done so! Awesome job though. You just have to get out of your head on the final stretch. Don't ever think score, just think process. Each shot is just as important as the last so no need to put added pressure on yourself when it "matters".

I ended up carding an 81. Was +3 through 10 and went 7 over the final 8 holes! I lost my energy and focus and my scorecard revealed that. I kept some stats for myself: 5/13 fairways, 6/18 GIR, 30 putts (18 on front, 12 on back). 1/9 GIR on the back 9! Thank God I can chip...ended up 8th overall in stroke play. All in all, it was fun. Maybe we can chat more next tournament. Congrats on playing well again!

@Imp: I believe you were in the group behind me. Did you or any of your playing partners find a Bettinardi putter cover? It fell out of my bag and my best guess is from the left rough on #16

Yeah I have some kind of birthday party to go to on Sunday for some friends of my wife's kids. Which should be awesome and totally better than golfing.... *End sarcasm*

I'm off Monday for the holiday and I decided to take Tuesday off. So I've got a bunch of time to golf this weekend. Hopefully the weather holds out.

I lucked out this weekend. As this is minutes away from my brother, I'm crashing at his place again. The bonus is that it's my nephews (who is also my godson) birthday on Saturday, so I'll be there all night and the morning for the festivities. :)

Thats cool. The only Major that I could have played was Fenner hill June 22-23. But my wife decided to schedule my sons first birthday party on June 22nd. So thats out of the question. Although August 10-11 at CT national might happen.

Right now Im signed up for Country View on June 2nd and I'm contemplating Winnepaug on the 15th. I've never played Winepaug before and no one i know has either so I literally have no idea what to expect from Winnepaug.

Nice. Love that course. I think the next tourney I'll be able to play in is at Country View in RI.

One question, maybe one of you guys will know...on the website...why when you sort by stroke play do some guys not show up yet when you go to the Stableford groups, you'll find more names?

The reason for that is because "A" division players play in the Stableford points match as well as the stroke play match. The "B" division guys only play the stableford points match. The only exception to this is when there is not enough guys from the "B" division playing in a tournament to justify two divisions. In this case everyone plays the same division and all players are laying stableford and Stroke play.

I am a "B" division player, however the last 3 events I played in had only a hand full of "B" division players. So we were all grouped together and played against each other. So I have stroke play points even though they don't really matter.

I've only been in one tournament where my being in the "B"division actually mattered, and that was Meadowbrook at the season opener. Since then Triggs, Richmond CC and Potowamut have all been one division.
