I have the 2006 tour issue version but am not sure how - or even if - it varies from retail.

Mine are fitted to PX 6.5 hard-stepped once with GP New Decade MC grips. Swing weights are, 3-9 D3 and PW D4. Would love to get a 2 iron to complete the bag.

There's quite a long story behind me getting these irons exactly how I wanted them but they are pretty much bang on now. Might try them with TC shafts later this year but that's all.

However, as they stand these irons/shafts are precise, consistent and predictable to the extent that if you have the game they encourage you to show off.

I hit several thousand balls a week (rarely less than 2000) and have come to know these irons pretty well. It took me a while to cotton on to the sweet spot being closer to the heel than my old Mizuno MP32s but once we had that sorted out and the distances down pat they were good to go.

In my opinion they are a better combination than the MP32 TTDGS300; more demanding and more rewarding.

I have the MB TPs 3I-PW with Rifle Tour Flighted 5.0 shafts. I hit them pretty well and they were a lot more forgiving than they sound. Even though I'm only twelve, I would also like to get a 2I.

Look: Cool, nice look with thin/medium topline, beautiful satin finish looks sick

Performance: Great performance with nice ball flight- goes higher than it sounds.

Feel: Awesome feel at impact, pure sound and feel

Forgiveness: Enough

Just changed to these with rifle 6.0 from the RAC TP forged 2005 model with S300's and they are quite a step up in terms of playability/forgiveness.

Don't be fooled, they are not easy to hit consistiently unless you are a low single figure golfer with plently of time to practice.

They do give good feedback and the result is directly proportional to the swing you put onto it - hit it smooth and clean and the shot will be exactly as it should be.

Take a swipe at it and you will be punished accordingly.

I do find then excellent for knock-down shots and chipping around greens.

My gut feeling is that I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

I need to work harder to master these but will put the effort in and see how it goes....

I own these fabulous looking and performing irons for one week. S300 shafts.

They rocket off the clubface and stay where they land.

Good swings are rewarded, poor swings are penalized. :clapping:

My change was from a year with Mizuno TP-9's. S400 shafts

I was hoping not to have :russian_roulette: taken too much of a chance.

Based strictly on 3 practice sessions, it's :partytime2: !

I won't really know until I take them out on the course. :aggressive:

If they perform as in practice, the difference in late 1980 blades to today's advanced technology,

more precision manufacturing and barely used grooves, I will be extremely happy. :yahoo:

Just bought a set except the Smoke. I like the rounded top compared to the squared up. IMO none of the blades at the store was a clear winner but in terms of looks they definately win hands down...want the matching wedges to have a nice clean bag. If your not sure if this is too much club id go for it as even though im a scratch i hit the ball like a 10 handicap. Great irons.

I'm waiting with baited breath to see how these will perform for you on the course.

Maybe I'll get to see them tomorrow. I'm glad you're happy with them so far.

I just picked up these irons and they are the best looking irons i have ever seen. I am no where near a scratch or low handicap golfer but wen i hit it on the sweet spot..its one of the best golf feelings ever. I got the rifle flighted 6.0 shafts on it.

I was wondering if anyone have any opinion on if the s300 shaft or the flighted 6.0 shaft complements these irons better?

Mine are S300. I never played Rifle shafts.

These heads are somewhat heavy. I needed to build up the grips anyway, a few wraps and an extra under right hand. Now the swing weight is just right for me.

I don't see any changes necessary, in my irons, for many years to come. Maybe the 3 and 4 will come out in favor of hybrids or 5 and 7 wood, but not yet.

Flighted Rifle shafts complement these irons much better if you're swinging anywhere in the 90+ range for your driver. I have hit both, and nothing is better than being able to flight a wedge low with these irons... that is something you will not find with the DGS300's. The original coin forged MB's were recommended to be hit in conjunction with flighted rifle shafts... I can't imagine that element has switched.

Stick with the flighted Rifle's, you won't regret it.

i have to say these irons are money!!! When struck flush they are like butter. if u are a better than average ballstriker then you should give these some serious thought... they produce a nice consistant ball flight and can shape shots on command not to mention they are eazy on the eyes!

-i have dynamic gold and i have no complaints but then again i like a high ball flight nd it fits my style of play-

I really like they way they look, but the feel is not there for me. Struggling to figure them out since Dec.'08.

Once coming to grips with this fact, I have tried other irons that feel better and perform better.

Decisions will be made.

update:

Both my wrists were hurting. I was chalking it up to arthritis and changed my top of backswing, transition and impact positions, in an attempt to be pain free.

It turned out that joint pain was an obscure side effect to a medication I was taking for acid reflux!

I am off the med, joint pain (wrists) is gone. I have resumed my flat wrist at the top and slight bow at impact. I'M BACK!!!!!!

My irons feel good again, however, it may be time to find a set that is lighter and more forgiving.

update: change is unnecessary. A little advice from Bob Toski and J.R. and these clubs are golden!

I just figured my irons out recently also, ending up being the irons were 2* up when I bought them and didn't really notice it. Got them checked out and adjusted last week..played a couple rounds and feels much better. Now I got to figure out my yardages for better precision. As far as the weight I was refering to earlier, I think it was just the transition period from some lighter previous irons, some time in the weight room and i am good!

Soo smooth and great feel when struck correctly, a very rewarding feeling. And they look awesome too!!

I love these irons. I played ping eye2 + for 15 yrs and a few years with cleveland TA2s and found these for a steal last year used so i said what the hell lets give em a shot. They feel sweet when struck properly and r more forgiving than i gave them credit for prior to playing them. they r shafted with true temper sl x100s which for me make the heads feel heavier allowing me to feel where the clubhead is at all times. My only concern is finding another set to replace them when i wear these bad boys out. BTW my definition of a steal was $145 FOR 4-9 with a 48* rac black pw. I would recomend these for any player that is a better than average ball striker and likes a thin top line and traditional look.

Picked up a used set of these and I'm impressed. Previously played Titleist 690MB's which I felt were a little light. These clubs are a smidge heavier (D2 swingweight on mine) and the feedback from the club is great. As others have mentioned, good shots are rewarded and bad shots are punished. First couple of hits my hands were numb from all the vibrations on my mishits. After awhile though I found my groove with these clubs and haven't been happier.

Idk If anyone will see this. Been playing these the last 3 years and I’ve broken par a lot more than before. I don’t want these irons to be forgotten as they look amazing and perform. I used project x 7.0 +1/2” on these to make up for the square grooves spin rate issues.

I great member of GolfWRX sold me some MP 5 heads today and I am wonder how they will compare. I am building them with kbs $ taper 130x.

It is tough taking these out of the bag. I need to try some Legal grooves though. These TM irons might not be beat in looks and performance……… never forget.

I picked up a mint set last month and hit them for the first time at the range today. They sit beautifully behind the ball and feel fantastic. They are possibly the best blades I have ever hit and I have many set of blades. Didn't know Taylormade made such great forged irons!
