Best Wedge Cleveland Offers

Curious to know what people think about the various

wedges offered by Cleveland Golf. Which wedge is

the best and why?

gotta go with the classics, 588s. don't really know why, but they work great for me. I prefer the RTG model.

Original 588's in the original gunmetal finish. If you remember, the original gunmetal had no brushed face; it was the same finish all around. Those were the best.

I agree those were awesome wedges. I bought a CG last year and couldnt stand it, I dont like the sole grind. the new DSG are great if you like to hit flops, but the best clevelands are the 588's

900's in only the 60 degree and 56.

I like the 588's in RTG, very nice wedge, and it also looks great also.

I loved the 797 BeNi's very very soft, only complaint was distance was a little short

 

Have the CG10's now I think they are great wedges as well

588's are still awesome. I own the cg11 and i still love the 588's

I can't believe there aren't more CG10 lovers... In my mind these are the best. I love the soft feeling. For me its like throwing darts at the pin.

For me its very simple. A 51 degree gap 588 and a 56 degree 588. Chrome please. Only thing close are Vokeys.

I love the CG10's and have had 3 sets. Don't know why I ever left them :)

 

I'll be going back to the CG10's next season for sure.

You can never go wrong with 588's. Classic against which everybody else ...blah blah ... you know like Pro V's versus every other golf ball.

 

Like the improved versatility of the 588 DSG. Playing the 60.

 

Like the buttah CG 10's too.

 

Still, any or all of these just have to be in CHROME. Shiny like a 50's Caddy.

I love my 588 53', and I'd LOVE to actually try out the 588 RTG DSG's I got for Christmas, but we've had snow on the ground for well over a month. :)

900 gunmetal low bounce no question

when i heard they where gonna stop making them i went out and found 4 new ones as backups.

the groves last long and so does the finish, also love the head shape

i get better spin with the CG10 than the 588's, would play either without hesitation though

The 588 TSC (Tour Satin Chrome) are like tour clubs....awesome heel and toe relief. Play as good as most true tour/tour van/tour grind Clevelands.

 

Don't know why they stopped selling these....I have a back up pair for when my current 56 and 60 get too gone.

The 588 DSG's doesn't suite my game. Broke a few shafts and tossed it finally in a lake because of the lack of distance control. To it's credit it has to be the best bunkershot lobby I've ever played but it's invariable distance of the clubface doesn't make up for it.

 

I've put the 900 60* low bounce back into the bag and couldn't be happier. It is pretty soon due for it's 3rd refurbishment and I'm afraid that I cannot see another Cleveland lobby in the distant future coming close to the 900...

Overall, the 588 RTGs are faultless, and I love how they look when rusted. The new DSGs are really good too and seem a bit more playable around the green.

May be asilly answer, since they don't offer them anymore...

 

The 588 RTG gets my vote. I played 588 sand and lob wedge for 10 years+, in chrome, RTG and gunmetal and the RTGs were the best. The finish (or lack of) was more durable than the other variants and the 588 was the best design for me.

you're all missing the real gem - the 588 BeCu's... ahhh... now that's a wedge!

 

i had all 3 - then traded up to the CG10's but - after a year, found myself realising that the BeCu's were just better. Had to go hunting down another set of 3!! took a few weeks to find them all - but now they're home again :)

588 for true consistency and spin. Dynamic Gold S 300 works for me. 56 and 60 each bent one degree flatter. CG10's are a little softer feel, but if it ain't broke...

I had TSC which were great (dunno why cleveland doesnt put that grind on more wedges) but my 900 RTG's have really grown on me. Im lovin them.

I have to agree that the Orig 588's are hard to beat whether in chrome or Gun. But the new 588 DSG's are money!! I got the RTG finish and I cant believe how easy they are to work around the greens.

I love my CG10. I've been bumming a 52* CG11 off my Dad for a while since he wasn't using it and I still liked the CG10 better. When I get my new set of irons (hit the new R7 TP's today.. good god I'm in love) I'm going to rethink my wedge setup. Probably a 52 and a 58 or something like that.

 

But regardless, the CG10 really has fantastic feel and great accuracy. Hell, the first time I played the thing on the course I drained a 30 foot chip for eagle. I just feel so comfortable standing over it and I have really great control over my spin. With my Vokey I feel like I'm going to tear the cover off the thing no matter what I do.

 

But I think feedback from other people will only take you so far. First hand experience is the only way to go when buying any club I think, and I'm sure most people will agree with me.

I have the 588's in Gunmetal and they are the sweetest wedges. I am tempted to change them with all the new stuff coming out, but why change out some of the best wedges ever made. Ive never had a problem with versatiltiy, shotmaking, spin, etc...and they are nice looking wedges also.
