Go-to-hell pants aren't a fad. They are a fashion that goes back at least to the 60's or so. Thomas Wolfe wrote about them in 1982. It's a very old style worn most often at, say, yachting parties in New England or at preppy events in the South- like frat parties.

I agree, the shirt's a bad match. RLX is trying to take old traditional preppy styles and update them, but the whole point of preppy styles is that you don't update them. They are what they are.

I was feelin' those, but more because I thought of it as a goof and him not taking himself too seriously. Perhaps mentally he thought they would help him stay loose.

My club has the shorts version...may have to revisit these. I can tell you though, I'm pretty sure the RL website will be sold out of these momentarily.

I like his enthusiasm too. I think he could be easy to root for in the future. The pants seem to fit his style. Tan pants and a blue shirt would be a disappointment. Admittedly though, as soon as I saw the pants I was thinking it would have been great if they featured turtles, as an homage to Merion's signature dish - turtle soup. With a splash of sherry, it is delicious.
