this is only excuse for his poor play and a sign that his body can't handle golf anymore, so he is finished.

Not surprised by his performance at the US Open and the obvious discomfort he displayed.

I'm still waiting for someone to either come into this thread and talk about it all being an excuse for his poor play or a sign that his body can't handle golf anymore and that he is finish.
Give it time. You know it's going to happen.

Meh. This one's a couple week tennis elbow style flare up. Nothing like the bad backs of a lot of the guys in their 40's, or the recent injuries to DJ and Snedeker.

If this was his knee, it'd be a monumental issue. But this is nothing more than every single touring pro goes through that we just don't hear about.

I'll bite....I think "sounds like an excuse for his poor play or a sign that his body can't handle golf anymore and that he is finished" at least in the Majors.

I also figured he wouldn't be too happy with Notah after he basically leaked all Tiger's "personal" info to everyone. That's just how TW is.

I see how it could be a good thing now. And I hope this is more of an extra-precautionary measure to ensure he's 100% by the British, rather than a serious issue. Hopefully he's fully healed by the Open Championship; I believe he will be.

I've been thinking about the whole Notah thing and I've decided that Tiger intentionally tells Notah and allows him to spill those tidbits to the press. A combination of Tiger controlling what is out there AND Tiger helping Notah out by creating a reason to keep him on-air and in a job. Tiger is Notah's Deep Throat.....

That's why I say he should have pulled out of the USO, hope its not too serious!
He'd have pulled out if it was. He wasn't lashing at things Sunday. Plodding along, finishing his round. He'd have WD if it was a serious concern. He'll be fine in weeks. Should be able to practice putting next week.

Let's hope that if this keeps him away from the full swing for a while, his putting and chipping will become unreal.

Have to say, I'm not too upset with this news. Should make for a less crowded course next week, I might head out there now.
It will be less crowded now. He'll be there to do his host duties and hand the trophy over.
Well maybe he will...

Dude sure is hurt a lot. Hope it doesn't end up being injuries that keep him from giving Jack a run, but it's always something it seems.

He is becoming the Joe Pepitone of golf.

Hardly that. If he didn't win any this year and was WD'ing on a John Daly pace, then maybe I'd agree.

That remains to be seen. Word is beginning to spread pretty quickly here that Tiger's not playing. True, there are 129 other guys playing that were on an invitation based list, but if he were playing it would be more nuts than it is around Bethesda MD on a Thursday and especially Friday. The weekend will be the true measure of it.
When he doesn't catch Jack that will be his excuse and all of the fanboys too.

We all know how utterly objective you can be when it comes to Tiger Woods, but can you please give an example where Tiger used an excuse to him not winning something? Despite all his injuries and off the course troubles, I can never remember him out-right blaming any of that on him not performing on the course. You can hate him all you want, but he's pretty damn good at taking the blame for him not winning this or that tourney. Even you can't argue that.

Fields will still be great, but it will hurt ratings and ticket sales slightly. They won't be hurting, but they won't be swimming in it like they would have been.
Which will hurt Tiger's Foundation.....I look for him to be there doing a lot of media, signing autographs, giving putting lessons to the Tour rookies and holding Bob Rotella like Mental Prep sessions with potential members of the President's Cup squad ( he may even work the Tour's daycare)

He must really be hurting to skip the ATT. He's the unofficial host and defending champ.
I was thinking the same thing. This isn't an event he'd want to skip. Must be pretty painful.
Another thing-- I remember reading an article a couple months ago that the contract for holding the ATT at Congressional ends next year, so the members were going to vote this fall on whether to extend it. Tiger likes having his event there, so he would not want to give the members the idea that he takes the event lightly, or that he might not be around much longer.

Awsi was being sarcastic. He thinks the idea that the fields are deeper now than they were 50 years ago is a bunch of nonsense.

"Mmmm indeed, why yes. I also believe that fields from the past such as the Open of the late 1800's was as deep as the Open's today. Their 8-12 mans fields consisting of golfers taken from a 500km radius were just as good, if not better, than today's"
