Mauritius is probably not really well known by most of you since it’s a pretty long journey for Americans to reach this small Indian Ocean island (10 to 12 hours flight from Europe). But it’s a really beautiful place that offers a good selection of courses and a very long golfing tradition. Can you believe that it has been the fourth country in the world where our sport has been played ? It comes just behind Scotland, England and India, with records confirming that golf was already played there in 1844 !

Machrihanish is awesome and Machrihansh Dunes is very good but they are freaking hard to get to :)

Had the fortune to play Oakmont for the first time this past week. Gorgeous day around 50 and sunny. This was the only picture I took because I left my phone in the bag all day, just soaking it all in!

I've played it twice. 'Very nice. This was my 4th or 5th trip to Orlando, so I've played most of the better courses in the area.

With less than 10 (ten !) courses across the entire country, Greece is definitely not a golfing destination in itself. But quantity doesn’t mean quality, and two of them located at the stunning Costa Navarino Resort are really great courses. Below pictures show the Bay Course designed by R. Trent Jones Jr, a hillside layout overlooking Navarino Bay, one of the most scenic I have ever played.

 

 

Here is the Dunes Course, the other course owned by Costa Navarino Resort, a Greg Norman design snaking around the resort premises. Perfectly maintained, it offers a great golfing challenge and some beautiful views on Mediterranean Sea.
