Ball flight comparison

Gents,

Looking to see if someone can compare the ball flight of PX6.0 to KBS Tour S+. thinking of switching from PX to KBS. I've read a lot of threads on the forums and some have stated they get a low flight while others say the get a higher flight. KBS website says its more of a mid flight shaft.

 

I know trajectory depends on swing, attack angle, etc. But lets say if you had a swing robot, how would these two shafts compare? Is one higher traj. than the other? Does one one have a lower launch than the other?

 

I'm sure there's a topic on this very question, but my search skills are elementary. If there is, could someone point me in that direction pls.

The KBS Tour should launch about the same to slightly higher than the PX, and spin more.

I play PX 6.5s and love them, but absolutely hated the KBS Tour X. The bend profile for that shaft was a poor fit for my swing.

KBS Tour S+ is softer than PX6.0, particularly in the tip section. KBS C-Taper S+ closely matches PX6.0 though.

Thx guys. Guess the thing to do is go and demo the shafts and see how they fit me.

Absolutely.

Because---even if they are about the same stiffness---there are significant differences in the shafts that will make them perform (and feel) very differently based on your swing.

I have a strong transition move and a late release, so the PX fits my swing very well...and see a significant improvement in accuracy compared to other steel shafts of similar stiffness. Where as the softer tip of the KBS Tour X sends my spin numbers through the roof, and it feels like I'm trying to swing a live snake.

Where as someone with a smoother swing and an earlier release will probably feel the opposite way about the two shafts. Love the KBS Tour, and hate the PX which will feel like swinging rebar.

So knowing how they compare to one another for stiffness makes for a good starting point....it is not a substitute for a good fitting and launch monitor numbers.

Thanks KG, currently playing AP2(2008) with 6.0 and am going to get fit for some new mizzys and was just appeasing my curiosity until my fitting.

On a side note, I find it hard to hit knockdown shots with the PX shaft. It feels horrible with a 3/4 style swing to me, really on any shot other than a full rip. Have you noticed this or is it just me? Maybe it's the AP2 head?

I noticed it with the KBS C-taper shaft, which I played before switching to the PX 6.5s. Great shaft when taking full swings...felt terrible when trying to hit partial shots...and took too much spin off. Full wedges stopped nicely, but greenside pitches and chips rolled on[i][b] forever[/b][/i].....

Imo, its an indicator that the player is loading the shaft properly with full swings...but not on partial swings.

I changed to the PX 6.5s because they respond well to my swing both on full shots and on partial shots. Had I stayed with the C-tapers, I would have probably taken them back to my club guy and had them soft-stepped.
