Funny story. First time playing with a WXRer.

Well I had a piece within minutes after patiently waiting for someone to take pictures of it. Then about 30 minutes later I had another one. Then after coming back from dinner I had a sliver of it. After the accident and leftovers I had a huge piece of it. One of the best cakes ever. I'm wanting milk cake this time. Midwest people have funny names for cakes.

OK, another story of WRX'ers getting together.

A WRX'er from Seattle contacted me and said let's play in Portland. I said yes, great, play at the Reserve using my guest rates. I invite my bud, a retired golf coach to make a threesome and to make it not so embarrassing to me and my game. We warm up, putt a few, and are ready to tee off when a fellow member approaches and pretty much invites himself to play with us. What do you say? Buzz off, dingbat? He is a nice guy, but well known as a person it is better not to play with.

So, my poor guest and I ride in one cart and coach and bud play in another. I told my guest, this is bad. Those two are like oil and water. After nine holes, if either is still alive, we are going to switch carts and you will play with the coach. You will like the coach.

Which we did. I have no idea how well or poorly I played that day. I was too concerned with the dynamics. I am so sorry for the guest, but I hope he had a good time with the coach and our course. Maybe, he'll come back. And laugh.

We were T-boned leaving the golf course right after the outing. I had a concussion, shifted spine and a cracked rib. Made flying home the next day quite fun.

Really happy I stumbled into this thread. Thank you for making me smile. That cake is genuinely funny and the car accident is not. Some of my most enjoyable rounds have been with strangers. A quick story - my wife allowed me to bring my golf clubs on our honeymoon (1 month trip to the East coast of Canada), which was amazing because she doesn't golf but she really wanted to drive the cart. We show up to an early morning tee time and we are approached by a gynaecologist from Quebec. I hit the ball sideways all day and this sixty year old man could find my ball(s) almost instantly in knee-high fescue. Couldn't understand half of what he said, but it was a hilarious day. I didn't think to ask if he was a WRXer, but he did hit the ball a mile, played incredibly fast, gamed Miura's, and shot well under par, so there was a slight chance.
