Bethpage Black to host 2019 PGA and 2024 Ryder Cup

Bethpage is one of my favorite courses the TOUR has been to. A true masterpiece. And New York is The Place for any huge event. The energetic atmosphere is unrivaled.

The PGA Championship at Bethpage will be wonderful, but the Ryder Cup will be out of this world.

Probably not for a while.

The PGA did a great job of nabbing Oakland Hills, Medinah and Baltusrol. This is a tremendous coup for them.

I am taking the Ryder Cup week off of work and will be at Bethpage everyday for the 2024 Ryder Cup.

Great course, no doubt, but the overlap is weird. The PGA shoud try to create it's own brand on a rotation of courses unique to its championship, not try to be US Open Lite or US Open 2.0. But, I completely understand that it's hard to pass any great tracts if they're willing to let the PGA have them, and that there's a long history of courses having hosted both the PGA and USO.

I don't expect many to agree. It's just something that irks me. It's like the PGA is trying to get away from "4th Major" status by copying the USO. Instead, it should be blazing new trials - be the major that takes risks (and, to be fair, it has to some degree) and tests the great new courses, or goes where others haven't gone before.

My guess is the Ryder Cup will rarely, if ever, go to the West Coast. TV broadcasts rule the day, and it's hard to beam a live event to Europe with a 10 hour time difference. NY crowds will be great for the Ryder Cup, not that Chicago was bad. My vote is take it back to Brookline.

I wish. I live less than a mile from The Country Club. Good to see the U.S. Amateur this year however.

I'd like to see a Ryder Cup setup at Bethpage. That will be something special.

I lived at the end of Brookline reservoir in 2007. Was there all three days and watched Justin's putt roll in the hole. You think the Boston crowd was hard on the Euros on the last day, you should have heard what they were saying to the US team on Friday and Saturday. That was a roller coaster.
