i step up. next to me 3 serious hacks with their drivers. topping, shanking, whatever.

1st guy: wooosh "wow, thats amazing long. i bet, nobody in this club can driver longer"
2nd guy: "yes, you do really great. never saw such a long driver".

for me, it looks like maybe 100mph swing, heel hit and max 230yds total.

i was already warm, so i took out my hybrid and boomed a few. all i hear is lowvoice between these guys "do you see that guy? he hits a hybrid further as we do our drivers. how is that possible".

maybe i should introduce them to wrx. they might be able to bomb 300+, 2 weeks after joining
For the record, no guys would whisper that to their buddies....ever....

I was nearing the end of my bucket and finishing with some sand wedges to a small green 30 yards away. Johnny Longdrive and his girlfriend take the stall behind me and he proceeds to pull out the driver immediately and tell her to watch him closely, as he is about to hit it out to the 300 yard sign. He proceeds to hit about 5 balls, none going further than 180 and slicing wildly right. She seems impressed, clearly not understanding the concept of yards vs. feet or the importance of directional control. I actually chuckled out loud and I presume he heard me because he actually asked, "So you think you can hit it farther?" I turned and said, "I can give it a try. What club do you want me to use?" "Driver" was his response, clearly thinking my 30 yard sand wedge were indicative of my driving ability. I said ok, tee'd one up and hit a smooth high draw about 305. I turned around and looked at him, he's clearly dumbfounded, and then I look at his girlfriend and she starts dying from laughter. I put my driver away, said have a good night and walked away.

Brlong23 hit it 230 and looked like a stud plowing it 50 yards past this guy. I'm surprised and a little dissapointed he did'nt say he popped it 350 yds!

The thing about bragging in golf Brlong23 is there is always someone else that can make you look really foolish. You should just be happy you can hit it 230 and not try to make fun of others. A few of us here would give you 4-5 strokes and still enjoy slapping you around all over the golf course so just be happy with what you got and stop trying to make others look bad.
Honestly you came off like a ******-bag jerk-off with your little tale!!!!!

Hey lets make a beginner look bad,,,yeah man your really cool,,,,,NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parker,

Had you read my story, you'd note that the guy challenged me by asking if I thought I could do better. I was more than happy to stay out of it until that point. Secondly, if I wanted to hit it 230, I would have pulled my 4 iron. Unlike some of the people on these forums, I'm not here to impress people or lie about what I can do on the golf course. I'm a 3 handicap and my distance and accuracy off the tee is above tour average. My downfall is my short game and putting, hence me hitting an ungodly amount of chips and putts lately, in an effort to get down to scratch. Quite frankly, I took an easy swing at the drive I mentioned. I could have actually taken a full blown swing and flew the 300 yard sign, but what's the point? And just incase you're thinking I'm full of it, here's a recent video of me demo'ing the G30...without shoes, so I had very little hip rotation. My swing speed usually sits between 119 - 121. (https://www.youtube....h?v=m9JNcaZEj_M)

It had nothing to do with making him look bad. I was simply sharing a story that I, and apparently several others found humorous. To me, you sound bitter.

So because I laughed at something I found funny, I'm at fault? I would contend that people take things too seriously in life and are more worried about hurting people's feelings rather than speaking their mind. If her boyfriend wants to lie to her in an attempt to impress her and then call me out, that's on him. I was content not saying anything until he wanted to say something to me.

Also, to say that you would slap me around the course is a little presumptuous on your part considering you're a higher handicap than I am. If you want to spot me 4-5 strokes, you're only going to lose by more. That's if you really are a 5 handicap as you say. After all, you apparently can't take anybody at their word around here, right?

Translation:

When someone is at the driving range showing his babe how he hits the ball, and some bragging kicks in, I don't really care. It doesn't bother me a bit, let it be. I don't set out to embarrass him in front of his girl, I am satisfied with what I do on the course. I am satisfied with being a 10 hc. I don't get off by shaming someone else, that doesn't make me a better golfer or person.

Its calling minding your own business, and you didnt just laugh, you chuckled in a way of arrogance. I have heard similar things on the range, and I keep my thoughts and "chuckles to myself" I am not saying you cannot speak your mind, or worry about hurting other peoples feelings, but this was clearly between them, and it was not your concern. God I hate this site sometimes, so much arrogance, too much bragging. I need a break.

LOL...this has become borderline ridiculous. Yes, I agree that it was clearly between them. It would have stayed that way had he not said something to me, thinking that he was clearly better than he was. Maybe next time he'll refrain from pretending to be something he's not. Regardless, I'm not losing any sleep over it, and his girlfriend thought it was funny.

In a cruel bit of irony, I chuckled at his video he posted for doing the same thing he was doing to some poor sap at the driving range.</p>
