I jinxed myself by laughing at your stories. Yesterday I sold a driver on CL. I met the guy at a local Target store parking lot. He looks over the driver and agrees to buy it. He opens the top of a white envelope, shows me the money and hands me the envelope. We go our separate ways. I get home, open the envelope and put the money in my wallet. I notice there was something else in the envelope. It was a bunch of short and curlys. WTF!!! So I take the money out of my wallet, wash and dry it then go to my local grocery store to spend the money and get rid of it!! Who the hell does that!? Talk about bizarre!

Funny thread. I sold an item yesterday, met the guy he looked over the time said looks good, signed a bill of sale. And he said thanks and started getting into his car. I said Uh....what about the money and he sheepishly says "oh yeah, oops not sure what I was thinking" and hands over the cash.

Golf clubs, no. Everything else, yes. My sister sold her desktop aquarium (filer, tank, food etc) to some kid on CL I think for $50. I drove her to a local Costco to drop it off. A kid of about 9 gets out of an SUV with his mom. The mom says: "he only has $40." and smiles. I look at my sister with a raised eyebrow, she accepts it, and we leave on our way. She was mad when we got back in the car. I told her it was fully within her right to say no thanks and walk away. I know they were scamming her out of $10 purposefully. She was happy to have it out of her room, so I guess it still ended well.

Look at apartments a couple months ago I found a great looking place, for a steal of a deal (major red flag!). I e-mail the guy, and get a response back from something like muyh5780wr@yahoo.com (2nd red flag)...and was thinking that's a really bizarre e-mail, and who uses yahoo nowadays still? Then I say I'm interested when I can see it? I get this massive e-mail about how he's a missionary working in the Ukraine right now (not entirely unbelievable but still super odd) and that the key is with him and that all he needs is first month's rent ($500) by Western Union and he'll send the key by DHL. I asked him to if he has a friend/family who could let me in. He says no, last time that happened his apartment got vandalized (wtf?). He ends up calling me, and he had the thickest accent I had ever heard, I could barely understand him because the phone kept cutting out. It sounded almost Afrikkan in origin. He told me he could do it for $200. I told him no thanks. I reverse looked up the phone number, it apparently was a Ukrainian country code, but he kept texting me from a Colorado number. I was glad to get rid of that one.

That's ridiculous. I wouldn't have given him them bag. He expects you to pay him to take your bag. I would've told him I'll give $50 for gas but I have to run to the bank and I'll be right back. Then left the a****** waiting until he realized I wasn't coming back.

Local cops here used CL for a prostitution sting.... meet at a house.....got 14 dummies with it.
