I hope they have some cool, rare, and "tour" items - I would definitely check it out, just to see what it's all about.

I'm based in the uk and personally love the idea of a Cameron store. If I was visiting the states and that area I'd definitely drop in to take a look. If it had custom shop attached as well then I can see a great service being offered to ppl fairly local

As for all the price discussion - 36 uses verse 14 or 15 - no brainier really

As it happens I have an odyssey as a back for my cameron and then 2 others in my 'collection'

I think a boutique store is a great idea for the brand ... it will not benefit me one bit ..since I have the only scotty I need and live up in canada , but I would love if they had one near me ... whats wrong with options.

I hope it doesnt cost a fortune to get a putter that fits me by cameron. Around 500 will be my price point.

I simply thought they were. My bad if they're not. Either way, I think there are better values out there.

Why did you think they were made in China?

What are the better values in your opinion?

Low Tide, Piretti, Byron. 3 just off the top if my head.

Read something that said Camerons were made overseas now. My bad. Not bad mouthing them as a putter, btw. I just prefer smaller makers, like what Cameron used to be.

There were unsubstantiated rumors that Studio Stainless and Studio Style from 2002 to 2007 were casted in China, then skim milled in the U.S, and marketed as one-piece CNC milled all Made in USA.

Since 2008, Studio Select and Select were both CNC milled in the U.S. Some shops in SoCal to be precise. There is no question about these lines.

It really depends on the price point for me. My in-laws live in SoCal, and I have quite a few friends in the area, so I'll definitely be around.

I really like my Golo, and out of all the putters I've rolled, I preferred the sound and feel off the Scotty head. That being said, I think the most I'd be willing to spend on a custom fit and designed Scotty would be in that $500 ballpark.

I think it's a good thing for the average golfer but probably not the best for the Cameron collector. With Circle T's being the only real customized putters until the the limited custom shop started, you either got an OTR putter or a Circle T. That helped collectors (especially ones with connections) but not the average Joe who wanted "something special". Now you can get that and more (a trip to the studio!), which is ultimately a win for the consumer and the Cameron fan - but it opens up a lot of variations out on the overall market, taking away from the rarity of the old putters.

And guys, I'm not debating how "special" putters like the 009 are, just simply stating how supply and demand will change the market long term.

Xenon for handmades.

Not gonna knock Scotty for making some sweet putters over the years and opening up a market for other boutique putter makers. These guys make putting exciting.

If women can spend house payments on handbags we men need things too.

Seems really cool. If I ever take a trip to that area then I would probably drop in and check it out.

I never understood the negativity that SC gets. If you don't like his putters then why do you care what he does or what he charges? Choosing a putter is very individual, so it should come as no surprise that people have differing tastes and willingness to spend money on a putter.

I think this is the first step on FILA mass market plan, I seriously think Scotty Cameron the person has lost much of the control over "Scotty Cameron" the brand and has been placed on nothing more than a marketing icon with little to no say so on how the OTR putters are sold.

Hope I am wrong for the sake of all the small collectors who are loyal fans and not just in it for the cash.

What would be the point of opening up a "Boutique" shop for the public to go in and just look around and browse? It doesn't make sense to me. Also, I would definitely use some cool Circle T putters as showcase to attract some people into the store, something like that by the front door would make people Ooooh and Aahhhh right as they're coming in. I'm sure they will make custom putters there, but I think to offer the Circle T's to actually buy would take away the excitement from the people who spent thousands on them and obtained them privately.

Now I think what would be cool is to be able to go there and be able to actually see someone making your putter, stamping it with your initials and putting in the touches that you ordered, I think this is where they will attract more and more people if they do go this route.

seems like all OTR putters are still be sold through authorized Titleist accounts.
IS there another way to buy them?

From the WRX article:

"It is doubtful that the Cameron would decide to sell any of his most sought after tour-only, or “Circle T” putters through the public putter studio, as he has resisted selling any of those putters through retailers in the past. However, Cameron had successfully sold limited-edition merchandise such as apparel, ball markers, head covers and putter grips through his website for years, and it would make sense that those items would line the walls of a public putter studio."

Cameron has spent way too much time, money, and effort on building his brand in the collector market. Selling CT's in the boutique would absolutely kill that market and there is no way he would ever let that happen.

I am underwhelmed. I have used SC putters. I would never pay the premium he charges. I would pay the normal price for a tour quality putter. The collecting part of SC I never got into like I never got into collecting headcovers. If Tiger never went with Cameron we would be saying Scotty, who? The whole thing about a Scotty Cameron putter is the hype, advertising, and paying players to use the SC putter. I see less mad less of them on tour all the time. His China line is crap. JMHO

I've never seen a Scotty Cameron commercial or advertisement? What China line? Thoughts like this just make zero sense to me. His prices are in the same class as the other milled putters from PING, Odyssey, Bettinardi, etc. Tour putters are totally different, people purchasing tour or limited putters are not likely to be doing it for performance (and if they are, I'm sorry their fooling themselves) but for certain look, feel, etc (sure that could lead to better performance-- the whole confidence thing) and the "collecting" and "cool" factors. You can't get a one off Cameron for the same price as you can small boutique putter makers because at this point they're a much larger company. Supply and demand applies here. Tour and Limited Edition putters do not perform any different than retail putters... I've owned plenty of all of them.

I think the trend is just the opposite....the glamour of the scotty cameron brand is quickly diminishing. People are realizing that for a price of a chinese manufactured Scotty Cameron that they could purchase a handcrafted Byron Morgan or any other boutique brand putter. Also- the on tour use and cult scotty following has been on a down trend of late.

Same can be said about PING.

Back in the l80's PING clubs could only be sold through pro shops and only so many could be bought by said accounts. Sound familiar?
