Gong, I can help a little with the SPB X flex as that is what I have been playing for almost a year now in my i20s. For me, I think the SPB X is similar in flex to the C-taper S+ and PX 6.5 I played the C-taper S+ for about a year and a half before I switched to the SPB. The SPO spun way too much for me and ballooned, while the Modus 120 was way too soft in the butt section for my taste and I flared it dead right all day.

I have never tried the Modus 130 for an extended period yet. I would like to tinker with them, but for me so far the SPB is my favorite shaft in X and the C-taper is my second fav in S+. The C-taper in X is a monster and I did not like it as I had to swing full out all of the time. I like to hit knock down shots too and the X in C-taper was too much for me. The SPB X is easy to knock down. My ss is 94-96 with 6 iron and 119 with driver with a late release.

Great to hear that the SPB in an X worked well. Doing some more research and talking to a local player with SPBs, they don't seem to play as stiff (or at least feel as harsh) as the C-Taper X/Modus 130X. I agree that the C-Taper in an S+ was pretty solid with just tight enough dispersion to settle on for a while, not quite the flight I enjoyed with my satin PX 6.5s though. Hopefully the SPB in an X will be just what I'm looking for.

Being a fellow knockdown iron player, did you find the SPB to flight low with the short irons as easily as the C-Taper S+? That's really what has me come back to the C-Tapers regardless of the lack of feel. Especially in the slightly weaker flex to the 6.5s.

I agree with Mark. I originally bought a 120TX and a 130X just to try them out before doing my due diligence and man was I surprised. The 130 in an X was nothing short of swinging 4 inch cast iron pipe. The 120TX honestly felt too soft in the butt for me but performed fine once I tried them outdoors. I am a late release player with a 6i SS 95-97 and have since tried the 130 in a stiff indoors on the monitor, loving the feel but a little high on the spin side. I also gamed a set of the ORA protos that I believe were the 2S14 (Super Peening Orange Protos?), too much spin again. After going back to PX 6.5s/C-Tapers I am in awe of how much I miss the Nippon feel. Definitely tricky to find the perfect fit as they do offer a profile for all swings with vastly different feels depending on the player.

I am yet to get my hands on super peening blues though, have read and heard good things but am a little weary of an X being similar to the modus 130 in being too stiff. I've read some of your posts Mark and you seem to be the go to on Nippon experience, what are your thoughts on the SPB specifically in comparison to a Satin PX 6.5/C-Taper S+/Modus 130 S. I read in another one of your posts that the SPB help with those who prefer to play knockdowns more often, which is something I find myself doing.

The one thing I am to worried about is to much spin and ballooning, which I am prone to do with other shafts. To me I dont think I could ask for a beeter flight and spin from my 6.5s. They never balloon, I mean ya some wind can catch them when it is real gusty but for the most part it is just a high flat penetrating flight that I have no problem not holding greens with. I am just looking for the same flight only with more feel in the shaft, because as most know the px has never been called smooth haha. I think from hearing most people talk of the x being a lightpole, I should probably stay away from it. I am ready to try a smoother shaft and the x might be to similar to the feel of the px6.5. Right now I am leaning toward stiff hardstepped. although I really would like tot try some SPB's. They sound like they would be right up my alley.

I definitely can relate with that 6.5 flight. If your in the same boat as me and would like something "smooth" for once, than going on the stiffer side of the fence is probably the wrong way (my problem in trying the 130 at first). I think a hardstepped modus 130s is a good place to start. Why can't we get the dispersion of a C-Taper, the flight of a PX, and the feel of a Nippon?! I guess that'd be too easy and leave us without a club ho hobby to waste our money on ;)

The SPB is the lowest launching easiest to knock down shaft I have ever played. It launches lower than the C-taper or PX.

if you dont like ballooning hardstep whatever Ctaper you fit into flex wise... it will kill the ballooning :)

I saw more balllooning with the STIFF-STIFF-SOFT TIP profiles for some reason.

I play the C taper X hardstepped, and wedges tipped 1/4".

They never balloon and I have no issue with holding greens.

I also should note I am a competitive long driver... But i will say this.... The butt stiff-mid stiff- soft tip profile I have used in the KBS TOUR V130 -tour only, they feel much much stiffer than the C tapers hardstepped.

I found them no more accurate but again, such is the issue, if the shaft don't fit your feel dispersion will increase. If i tried them again, I would try the 125x.

the "bend profile" is very similar to the RIP Alpha hyrbid profile which i really like. But that profile seems to "feel" stout to some people.

But guys you gotta trust MarkhearJr, the guy is the real deal. Hes not some Wrx'r wannabe. The guy is well known and if hes giving you information, it trumps all other sources, i promise you.
