Rankin and Pepper walking the holes. Jerry Foltz also. I think the LPGA coverage is often superior to PGA in terms of walking announcers. But Foltz seems more comfortable with the LPGA crew. He's not quite as relaxed when doing early season PGA events.

Montgomerie needs to be somewhere. You take the best talent and make a place for them, as opposed to picking only guys from a specific category.

I love Chamblee and Feinstein in studio. No apologists allowed.

In terms of guys from this site taking over, I'm confident it would bomb. No matter what it looks like in print or elsewhere, the translation to broadcasting is hardly parallel. In the late '80s and early '90s I was a regular on Las Vegas radio handicapping shows. The host would ask me to bring in local guys, to get a flavor for the wise guys who made their living betting sports. I tried to pick the most glib and interesting guys. To my surprise they would either balk completely and refuse to appear on the show, or clam up and be a total shell of themselves if they did appear. We tried 8 or 9 guys and none of them translated well. That's why I'm always hesitant to completely rip the current on air personnel. It's like Big Break, not as simple as it appears.

If we had guys from this forum doing the broadcasts (just like the tournament threads) it would become a show filled mostly with a back and forth between Tiger fans and Tiger haters. If Tiger wasn't playing then hardly anyone would show up for the broadcast. There would be a lot of dead air. Not that dead air would bother me.

I was actually a big supporter of the Dennis Miller on MNF decision. Even if it didn't work out as hoped....i really thought it was worth trying. I'd love to hear more "average funny guy" type takes on golf. I mean there are so many things that could keep people entertained at random tournaments. I mean the Masters is entertaining no matter what, but for 75% of the tournaments why not?

I mean for Kapalua or something? I'd much rather hear Madgolfer, thrill and Kymar do the announcing with a token golf guy like Johnny Miller. Have you ever read the tournament threads? Half the members here come up with more interesting comments then the announcers

I know what you mean, and it's not like i expect NBC to call me. But the point i'm trying to make is that not everyone wants to listen to a "professional" broadcaster or someone too close to the game who isn't going to call it like a fan. A great example of the point i'd like to make is a guy like Bill Simmons in basketball, who went from writing a blog 12-15 years ago to getting hired by ESPN and now is a panelist on the NBA's games of the week. He brings a fan's perspective to the game and raises a lot of questions and comments that others wouldn't. I find it enjoyable to listen to.

That's why i brought up the Dennis Miller example as something i'd love to see more of, thinking like that.

2) Allis & Sam Torrance in the booth..... Feherty & Maltbie on the course.....Butch Harmon analyzing swings....holes: Finch, Oosty & Ben Wright

3) the Feherty & Torrance back & forth banter would be genius ....even better than McCord & Ben Wright back in the day
