How much should I expect to spend on 2026 US Open tickets?
aabcuue replied to ctjuniorffldcounty's topic in Tour Talk
FYI, LIRR station is at course entrance. USGA/Shinnecock is again building a pedestrian bridge to access course from both side of LIRR. Train will take you directly to either grand central 42nd st/park ave or penn station 31-33st/ 8-9th ave. Have walked to/from theatres from LIRR although you maybe tired at end of the day. Otherwise subway is quickest w less traffic delays/issues. Restaurant row is 48th st and more or less center of a wide spread theatre district. -
How much should I expect to spend on 2026 US Open tickets?

2018 was definitely sold out on multiple days. Friday when it was a soaker for at least 1/2day w 20-33mph wind wasn’t. Most ticket pavilions/grandstands and packages are available now, which actually links to seatgeek.com A week ground admission, Mon-Sun is $1466.00usd. Most of packages include a new $50/day credit for food & beverage which don’t roll over. https://www.usopen.com/2026/tickets.html -
This quote should make SS more inspirational. If anyone had Walter Mitty dreams or what would happen if they just quit their corporate job, Scotty is the answer. “I came to golf late. I wasn’t a junior standout or college All-American. At 27, I left a steady corporate job to see if I could be on the PGA Tour starting as a 14-handicap, average-length hitter. Over the years, my journey has been defined less by trophies and more by the relentless effort to navigate the deeply inequitable and gated system of professional golf — an effort that ultimately turned inward and helped me evolve as both a golfer and a person.” https://www.golfwrx.com/763664/on-scottie-scheffler-wondering-whats-the-point-of-winning/

Congrats on a lifetime experience and memories. Nearly made it there in 2019 after Presidents cup connection. Having a connection to a club in the tournament organization and/.or operation is the ideal way to get the best and top positions. Otherwise, Joe Schmo off the street isn’t sniffing anything outside of non-golf and basic positions like the merchandise tent. in the US tournaments, generally unless your a function chairperson or USGA/PGA staff your not getting your uniform and registration for free. Hours are everyday for at least half day or all day and your usually amongst 1st to arrive BEFORE the shuttles star and leave after shuttles end. Typical was in at or before dawn and leave 10-10:45 range. Yes, you have your own parking lot, usually close on course and often close to volunteer tent. We would also start we before the tournament for setup and/or training.

Apparently you forgot SS preplanned schedule from many months ago. Today is the premier of Happy Gilmour2 and SS is in the movie. This is probably his first movie credits. https://x.com/officialtourpro/status/1947426841335370086/mediaviewer

Guess you missed the part where he said the crowd was pulling for someone else and the amount of heckling that was going on. Even when he approached 18th green, he got light tepid applause compared to other years as noted by us media.

SS is in Happy Gilmour2. Think this is his first movie credits ever.

Guess I’ve been volunteering longer or more than you. Most tournaments, I’ve worked had an option to direct your hours to support a named/write-in charity when registering. As the non-majors are big fundraisers for local/regional charities, raising $2+ to 7million/yr, have met an innumerable # of Vols there to support a charity. Thats how I started volunteering to help a charity. Have seen many tournaments have rl large groups 100-1000 of Vols come out to support their charity. Sometimes they’re rl easy to spot as they all sit in vol tent or work together. To a volunteer, all have been great to met and work together. The stories and retelling of amazing situations and “war story” occurrences that never make tv, radio or golfwrx. You will likely meet a fascinating array of people from all walks of life. Not all are golfers but all have story to tell and knowledge to pass on. Some Vols who are golfers have become future foursomes and playing partners. Warning if you’re not careful you might end up volunteering or promoted for even more tournaments and or playing courses you never got to play before.

SS isn’t entertaining that thought. “Scheffler, however, says those Tiger comparisons are “silly.” “Tiger won, what, 15 majors? This is my fourth,” Scheffler said Sunday, the claret jug by his side. “I just got one-fourth of the way there. I think Tiger stands alone… “I’m not motivated by winning championships,” Scheffer said Sunday, elaborating on his answer about getting closer to Tiger. “I don’t look at the beginning of the year and just say, hey, I want to win X amount of tournaments, I want to win whatever it is. I don’t do that.” ”don’t place much emphasis on winning tournaments. I don’t place much emphasis on things that I can accomplish. It’s just mostly about putting in the proper work and coming out here and competing.” https://golf.com/news/scottie-scheffler-chasing-tiger-woods/ nor is the media saying he will: https://golf.com/news/scottie-scheffler-tiger-woods-major-total/

Don’t tell tiger that. He never liked his swing, it was the reason for constant swing changes and regular swing coach changes. He would be the first to tell you he kept “getting stuck” as Haney detailed in the big miss.

SS isn’t a bomb n gouger. He’s plenty long enough and swings w/in himself. Typical swing keeps some power in reserve only for special situations. This adds to his accuracy but keeps up w the longer hitters. Throw in the shot making and ball flighting, no wonder he’s always top ranked on shots gained approach.

I never thought SS is dull, esp. not n person or off camera. Seems media and his competitors don’t think he is either. “Scheffler is witty, Jordan Spieth says. And when you’re witty, one activity comes as easy as Scheffler’s swing. “He s**t-talks,” Spieth said. “You can’t really go at him because he’s smart, and he’s got good bulls**t.” For everyone that thought SS was expressionless, what were they watching or not? “Throughout the round, TV cameras spotted Scheffler and LI laughing, and afterward,…We did a joke about each other a little bit and just so nice to play with him.” https://golf.com/news/scottie-scheffler-joke-haotong-li-open/

Not in person and definitely not off camera they aren’t! Remember the pros are working when they are playing. It doesn’t help to get too high or emotional, sort of changes playing distances and creates more Mishits. Turn off the camera and get away from the media and many are normal people just a lot richer. Tour life is a traveling circus, on course is the circus. Off course is a whole different life and aspect of saving/keeping your energy up.

Less likely after next season when NFL adds another game and has 2 breaks instead of one. Also likely is preseason goes to one game. Know enough season ticket holders that hate they are forced to pay for meaningless preseason games where starters only play a series or maybe a half.

There is no vol in the parking lot thats a contracted outside agency. The basic equivalent is working the merchandise tent. You only see golf on tv but you are in AC and get deals on merchandise. Got to meet Phil’s father, Tiger’s mom, multiple announcers like Jim & Gary and other celebs. Or be at entrance/exit or information booths. No golf and no tv. At least you know where to go and have the map and/or pairing sheets
-
You actually get your id which gets an entire week of free parking. USGA doesn’t usually separate Vols from public. Free grounds and volunteer tent access for week. In 2018 Shinnecock tickets ranged from $100+ to $400/day before nys 8% taxes +parking usually 20-50/daily. You usually have to commit to working at least 4 4or8hr shifts. For some positions we are all day shifts. When you work, you get a free meal, in vol tent or at concessions, typical value is $25-35. Vol tent meals are catered and commonly what tour staff/vips get to eat. Usually worth it if your shift hrs are compatible or are close to vol tent, most aren’t. All free drinks, breakfast, snacks and other special unannounced deals.

You have to view it as, are you already going to the tournament? If yes, this is a way cheaper method to go. Get selected to the right position, you’ll see way more, get inside access/news, what isnt being said in the news/social media/golfwrx and avoid most of the crowds. A few positions have contact w pros. Do act right and I’ve seen others and gotten plenty of autographs, signed balls, tour towels, other one off swag, etc. I’ve gotten and given away a lifetime of tournament/tour/pro stuff that make for unbelievable gifts. Have experience or leader who trust you then you can be inside the ropes, see witb for yourself, do actual the scoring, and/or walk all 18 w an assigned group. Would you have liked to walked Royal Portrush today w Scottie/Li and have been w/in 50ft the entire round? You hear basically everything the group is saying from strategy to chit chat. Want to be in know BEFORE tv for every shot and anytime rules officials are called over? In some positions, TV/PGA radio/etc. are asking you for information that is relayed onward. Every tournament, volunteers are doing it every round. Definitely memories for a lifetime. Almost all you can’t see on TV or maybe it’s your only time you are on tv, so I’ve told or shown pics later.

Before arriving there is a free volunteer party often w raffles. Don’t forget the free training, quick tour and introduction to your leaders/capt. You typically pay $200-1000usd to get a vol pkg. 2025 Ryder is 1000. Majors/FedEx playoffs are higher. 2018 Shinnecock was $350+ but rose quite a bit more than inflation for 2026. You get high end clothing specific to that tournament in special colors different than a mfgr in merch tent. Usually 1or2 polo and light rain resistant out wear. Lately reusable water bottle sometimes cheap but can be Hydro flask/Artic. Post 9/11, a clear carry bag is included to get through security and manage the day moving from parking to vol tent check-in to working shift. Worth it, all depends what your function is, if you like doing it and when. Some positions you see ZERO golf. Some duties are done before and/or after the tournament. Other positions you will interact with pros/team members/vips. More common are only golf at one position for entire shift half day (morning vs afternoon) or might be rotated every 30min-2hr. Get to course early before play/practice/pro-am starts and some form of breakfast, usually continental, is in the vol tent. Do refill water bottle, grab whatever free drinks are available (bottled water, sodas, sometimes juice) before leaving for shift. Remember esp. for non-majors, tournament is a fundraiser for local charities. Usually 2+million is raised yearly.

Does it strike anyone apropo as next year USO is at Shinnecock Hills which has many links features and aspects. Wind is always present and changes many times strength and direction during the day.
-
Same paying policy applies in US for USGA/US Open, PGA/PGA Championship, PGA tour events, Presidents Cup, Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup. Masters is as always a bit different. You have to win lottery to volunteer for 2 weeks but get to play the course months later. Forget about playing the course for any men’s major event except in rare occasions when there’s a volunteer raffle or it’s a public course.
-
Perfect for everyone who has never watched golf ever, has no idea who any of the players are or what they’ve ever done in their career.
-
The same Q thats has been asked of many top golfers what happens when they get married/have a family. Yet another reason Jack exceeded everyone else. He kept going and had a full family life w more high end competitors. For Scottie, quitting or semi-retirement after completing the grand slam seems probable.

That doesn’t define NJ. Chains are found regionally esp in NY boroughs and PA. In NY state, not as much upstate vs downstate. Its prevalent mostly amongst certain demographic than everyone.
