I don't understand this concept all. The hands first move in the downswing is actually away from the target, not down. Seems to me this pulling down could lead to a very narrow entry into the hitting area requiring a lot of timing and use of the hands to square the club face. Now, I fully acknowledge that Pete Cowan is considered one of if not the best golf instructor in the world. So I think it's likely that his use of phrase is just not understandable to me.

Have the following for sale. Prices include shipping the U.S. Not really looking for any trades, trying to thin the herd. First is a nice set of ‘94 Lynx Parallax irons. They are 3-SW. I bought these about 10 years ago or so and haven’t really used them much. Now, as I’ve aged, the shafts are a little too stiff for me. They are white lie angles which in Lynx terminology is standard, not upright like Ping white dots. I assume the lengths and lofts are standard but I’ve never had them checked. The 3-PW were originally purchased as a set and I added the SW a little later. The 3-PW shafts don’t have shaft labels. The guy I bought them from said he took them off because they were peeling up and looked bad. The shafts themselves look nice. No rust pitting. The former owner said he was pretty sure the shafts are Lynxlite in stiff flex. I’m not sure about that. They do feel stiffer than my DG r300’s but they seem more like a firm flex rather than a true stiff. But maybe the Lynxlites run a little soft? So just to be honest the actual shaft flex is a little in doubt. I had new Royal grips put on a couple of years ago and since have only used these irons a couple of times so the grips are in great condition. They’ve just been sitting in a spare room. When I had them re-gripped the guy was nice enough to shine the ferrules as well so they look nice. So it isn’t easy to find a full set in pretty decent condition. Asking $225.00 Next is a minty Wilson BL22. 35” in length. The grip is a GP Tour Tradition which is similar to the classic Pingman grip. I can send along the original Wilson logo’d Lamkin grip as well if you like. The original headcover is included. These retail for $350.00. Asking $199.00 Last is a nice Odyssey DFX 2-ball. 35” in length. Includes the original headcover as well. Also in pretty minty condition. Asking $110.00. Thanks for looking. I don’t think we have enough info about your swing to really say. A lot depends on shaft loading, release, etc. But, in-general, 1/2” tip trim isn’t going to make a huge difference. It might lower launch by a tad. That's about all.

I purchased some of the new Super Stroke/ Lamkins, just to check them out. Unfortunately my fears are confirmed. These are nothing like the Lamkins I’ve used for years. The materials are inferior to the original Lamkins and I’m sure will not last as long as the originals which I found to have superior durability. Alas.

Typically, .355 shafts are not meant to be tip trimmed. They are usually made at discrete lengths for specific irons. So it depends in which hybrid you’re planning to use it. A 39” raw length, depending on the manufacturer, is a 1 or 2 iron length. A two iron head is typically around 233 gms. In weight. A 1 iron 7 gms. less. A two iron is typically played at around 39.5” in length. So, if your hybrid weighs around 233 gms. and you’re planning on playing it at 39.5”, then no tip trimmed would be needed. For anything else you’ll need to make an adjustment.

Simple enamel paint ,like Testors, might be a little brittle and tend to flake off. A cheap try though. If you simply want to black out then a Sharpie might be as good as anything. Will probably take several passes with the Sharpie. Again, a cheap try.
