Watching this tournament begs the questions - why are elite golfers allowed to use 460cc clubs? They are supposed to be the best in the world. They didn't double the size of the hoop in the NBA after 2000. Bring back persimmon, or at least 230cc metals. These par 4s are pitch and putt for these guys.
Links courses are my favorite and the British used to be my favorite major. It just hasn't had much juice in recent years. It lacks some great courses now like Lytham, Muirfield and Turnberry. The Old Course is too easy. In recent years my favorite majors are: 1 US, 2 Masters, 3 British, 4 PGA.
I honestly think you'd be buying at a high right now. As more boomers exit the market a lot of quality will open up. I also believe the economy will make buy-in much cheaper in the future. I could be wrong though.
Not long ago I had multiple top 50 clubs begging to join. Didn't make sense for me at the time.
